QUOTE(sinner96ST @ Sep 19, 2006 - 12:23 AM) i'd buy a 7th gen GT and toss a turbo on it in a heartbeat. you're looking at 3sgte numbers there, at the very least. lol. Gains from a stock internals turboed 2zz would be minimal. They're arent meant to be turboed. Thats why TRD makes a supercharger for them, not a turbocharger. -------------------- Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........

I said GT, not GT-S.
http://www.hassturbo.com/catalog/celica-Tkit-dtls.html 266whp@8psi edit: oh, and TRD makes a S/C for the Matrix, not the Celica. It won't fit. Only blitz and greddy make a charger for the GT-S. This post has been edited by sinner96ST: Sep 19, 2006 - 12:47 AM |

Mis-read that you said GT, and after a quick search, it reveales that my newb ass was wrong about the trd supercharger specifically for the celica. if it was a strait up tarade id say gor for it...but im surprised at how fasdt they have gone down in value...i think if you wait a bit longer you will beable to get one cheaper that that..i too was cotmplating on trading in my car for a gts but i then thought...why in the hell do i want car payments...i mean if you wreak it you still have to pay for it and then you will be stuck no car and a payment or one car and 2 payments...its just an unbiased opinion from me cuz i was once in your delima..although 180 horsees sounded good..so i just bought all the thing to turbo my car...and now im happy..

Thats the way i like to look at it to. My car is paid for. NO PAYMENTS! That means you can put a lot of money towards the celi if you wanted to. And another issuse with a newer car would be insurance.

i was told by many 7th gen that if you turbo than you have to run it at really low boostso you will not get that much power out of a turbo.
i am preferable towards the 6th gen but it is your money. |

the 7GC is a nice car, its more modern both in looks and in features. Aftermarket parts are dirt cheap so although you may have 6k to spend if you keep yours it'll still be an older car.
what tail light options do we have, not many. the 7gc has loads, same goes for headlights, bodykits, and various suspension and exhaust systems. Seems like half the things done to 6gc's come as standard on a 7gc, e.g. projectors, swapping seats..... i know all our 6gc's are sleak and curvy which is great and it does seem that new jap cars have lost there charm but unless you have a gt4 you are rather limited with modifying it cost effectively. (for power) up to you though, just offering a few pro's and cons. btw, have you considered buying a supra? i dont know what they go for over there but you could get a turbo'd manual over here for about the same price. -------------------- imghttp://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n153/LI...KINGy2j/sig.jpg[/img]

I'm considering my friend that she shold buy the 7th gen sport package. It has many of many aftermarket support and has vvti, vvtli. never really "got on" the 7th gen before but it acts similar to the 6th gen. they're both toyota anyways...and both celicas.
anyway, i think 7th gen can do more things differently (like unique or you own style) than other 7th gen owners. so much varieties of parts available for them. look at us 6th gen. all of our cars looks pretty similar since we have a small choice of selection for parts. probably half the people here has JDM tails. a good number has the same body kits, intakes, exhaust, and what not. kinda off topic but isn't the 7th gen american engineered? or american designed or something like that? -------------------- PROJECT 6TH GEN

Just weigh out your options. Do you need in general a newer car because of mileage? Looks/Style? If you really love the body of the 6gen, and just want it faster, get a motor swap with the money instead. Getting a 7th gen would just be a decision of "Do I just want a new car?" Either way, if you don't really care about either in terms of speed, looks, or mileage, then either car would be good.

Going from a 6th gen ST to a 7th gen GT is a nice bump in performance from a stock standpoint, plus millage in 7th gen GT's can get to the mid 30's if you dont thrash them...

OMG... you guys, what would happen if I drive the 7th gen to one of your celica meets?
I love the 7th gen... well not as much as the 6th, but the point is... it's a NEWER CAR! Plus, I believe you can put in a TRD SUPERCHARGER on the GT. 03' for $9000, that's a freaking good deal, either you love the 7th or hate the 7th... JUST GET THE DAMN THING, sell it later for around $15000 and make a butt load of cash.. -------------------- |
