god why hasnt ANYONE told this kid what happens with 95% of minor traffic infractions.

you go to court, cop shows up. he calls you in the hall. you speak with him being nice etc and he does the same to you. he offers you a reduced ticket, usually impeding traffic. you pay the total sum of $100 and no points or penalties are assesed to your record or insurance. game over, 100 bucks, you are going to pay more for legal advice from a lawyer, and if you are going in there with the attitude that you are getting away scott-free you will be disappointed.

that changes from state to state jurisdiction to jurisdiction. i find that quite weird that you'd bargain with the cop, considering he isn't the one bringing the charges against you.

that has never happened to me or anyone i know here in california. the cops would want to nail you for as much as they could anyway

when you are called that is when your case is being heard by the judge... i wish i could talk to the cop that cited me before court, but i am fairly certain that the judge will just hand me my own ass fine me at least $500 put two points on my record and then say next like those angry ladies at the DMV.

i'm depressed frown.gif . i think i'm gonna go wallow in self-pity for a while

I was lucky when I went to court. I got a ticket doing 107 in a 60. Asked the cop to see the radar gun and he acted as if I was getting cocky with him and didnt let me see the gun. I work at an automotive shop and I got my boss to write me up a statement that my speedometer was 8 mph off (which it is). So I went into court with an attorney (who was my dads friend) and was ready to fight the ticket. My cop ended up not showing up so I got off free. If you do plead not guilty in court and lose. You have to pay a court fee on top of what you have to pay for the ticket. So make sure if you pleas not guilty you have a good enough reason to get out of the ticket.

i got pulled over for 105 in a 65 and the cop added a few other stupid things in for good measure... it was a $376 ticket in the end.

it happened in CT where the policy is that if you plead guilty and pay the fine in full no points against your license are assessed but it still stays on your record and is reported to your insurance company...although I'm not sure how/if that translates to the point system in NJ

wow. and the cop still gave you a ticket? did you tell him you were just learning to drive? I would assume either the cop would let you off, write up the ticket for your mom, or revoke your permit and make you start over.

i'm assuming the cop asked for license and saw that it was a learners permit.

he can't write the ticket to the mom, she wasn't in control of the vehicle.

i told him no but i got a permit he took it and he wass like "how old are you" i wass like "15" and he wass like oh wow we dont see that many of you anymore

i wass like man this officer only cares about his job and dosent give a crap about the community.

he wass a sherrif now that i think of it. still no point in giving me a ticket.

yea my mom tried to explain all of that. learning 2 drive and all of that. maybe if i tell that to the judge he could possibly dissmiss it.

than i wont have 2 pay court fines or anything.

Yeah. That's why he's a cop asshat. Why are we still talking to this kid? He's 15, broke a law by turning right on red when it was clearly posted that he could not do this, and now labors under the delusion that he is going to beat this ticket. This is the 2nd thread about this ticket. It is no more legible than the first one, nor is it any more intelligent. If he wants to fight, let him fight, but for the love of mike, please stop fostering such ignorance.

Maybe if you showed a little respect to people when you talk or ask them questions, they'll return the favor...

i asked a simple little question and people poked at it and poked at it and it turned into a big ugly thing.

1 thing i learned is dont make the fire bigger than it is.

tried it, didnt work. biggrin.gif

thx 4 tha lil tip tho should be on the forum rules biggrin.gif
