Quick question for you guys,
I have had a problem with the power steering on my 94 ST for the last 2-3 months, the leak is significant enough that i have to top the reservior every other time i drive the car. The fluid is leaking from somewhere and i have changed the RACK, the High pressure line, Return, and the 2 rubber hoses leading from the low pressure to the reservoir. I havent changed the reservior yet thats the only thing left right? Is there a power steering filter or something htat could be leaking? That is what Autozone told me to try. Thanks |

no filter, but the pump shaft seals could be shot, did you use new washers and o rings when you installed things?

If you have a blacklight, go to an auto parts store and ask for a dye kit and say it's for your powerstearing. Go home and clean your motor off the best you can, might want to by some brake dust cleaner or something for that. After the motor is clean, put the dye in the resivor. Might want to make sure it's a little low at this point. After how ever long it usually takes for it to leak out, check under the hood with the black light to see were it's leaking at. Then, drain all fluid and replace whatever is leaking. Until you know were it's leaking, there isn't much point in just replacing things.
