Im new to the forum and im sure some of you guys had to replace your clutch. I have a 95 celica st that needs a new clutch. I bought an Exedy OEM clutch to put in but ive never had to replace a clutch before so i was wondering if you guys could help me with a walk though on how to do it. I saw the video posted on how to put the clutch in but it doesnt really talk about how to take out the transaxle and put it back in. Any tips or pointers that you guys could give would be appreciated. Also, ive been looking around the forum to see if this has been discussed already but hadnt found much. If there has could anyone post a link to the thread. Thanks.

I changed out my tranny once and my clutch twice. So I could be some help. What you do is at your own risk. You might want to do is read this article too. clicky Some what similiar.
( I find it easier for me to remove my hub, but i seen ppl that leave their hub on there) ~hint~ - put every bolt in a baggy and label it. - get a torque wrench if you dont have one. its a must! the lb per ft one * remove battery and intake box * remove clutch slave, it should be right on top of your tranny that has a stick that pushes your fork * loosen up your axle nut with a 30mm socket * put something on your rear tire so that it wont move when jacking up the car * Jack car up on stands * remove bottom guards * remove wheels * remove axle nut * unbolt 2 long bolts to your struts * unbolt tie rod * unbolt the ball joint at the bottom of your hub * remove hub * rent a universal puller with a slide hammer to help take out the driver side axle. ( it took me two tugs ) * passenger axle will have a bracket that is held by 2 bolts. un bolt it and it should easily slide out. * I dont know what its call but here is a pix. unbolt those 2 bolts on both side so that the crossmember would be easier take out. ~ use a breaker bar to take them out, but turn it slowly so it wont break ~ * remove crossmember bolt as well as your front mount. * remove crossmember * before unbolting down the trainy, find something to support your tranny so that it won't just fall on you while your trying to wiggle it out of the motor. I use a cherry picker and chained it all around the tranny. * unbolt all the bolts in the tranny and the driver side motor mount and just wiggle the tranny out. * unbolt the pressure plate and it'lljust come out. * rent a flywheel holding tool at autozone to hold the flywheel in place or find something to hold the flywheel from moving around and unbolt all the bolts. Do it all by hand so that you wont break the bolts inside the crank. * get flywheel resurface * install the flywheel and torque it back to spec. * install the clutch in and use the alignment tool that is provided in your exedy clutch kit. make sure you align it right or else your going to be stuck with a noisy tranny. * after your set with the clutch , put everything back together and torque it back to spec. I don't think i left anything out but goodluck changing it out. I remember my first time and it took me almost a week just because i was stuck here and there. My second time took me only a day. I don't recommend doing this if your not good at working on cars. -------------------- <--- I miss :'' (
