Hello!

I have a toyota celica ST version, 1995 year modell and is imported from Italy to sweden were I live! My problem, or lack of knowledge, is that I can't figure out what the red LED diod is for! It's positioned on the left to my steeringwheel, a little to the right above the hood opener! I wonder if I perhaps have an alarm installed on my car? I only got one key to the car when i bought it, no remote or anything like that..

Would be so thankfull if anyone could help ease my curiousity!

check for a box underneath the seat. I think that is where the factory Toyota alarm was. Also look for a horn inside the engine bay. If it was aftermarket, they might have used a different horn then the toyota ones.

You can always disconnect the neg battery cable. Then when you reconnect it either the alarm will start to sound, or nothing will happen.

That is how I found my alarm....
(Sarcasm BTW, unless you know how to disarm it, you will not be able to turn it off, or probably drive your car)

Is the red LED a button? or just a bulb?

Thanks for the replays!

I checked in my engine bay, and I have two horns mounted there. One to the left on the upper part of the cooler, and one to the right in the bottom area of the cooler. Is it two orignally, or could one of them been added? I couldn't really see if they looked the same, but I think one of them was just a little bigger.

Couldn't find any box underneath the drivers seat though!

Added a picture of the LED lamp, and it's only a bulb and not a button! I did disconnect the neg battery cabble today and nothing happend at all, and never has!

The picture on the LED lamp/bulb (what should I call it?)

Yea... I was cleaning the terminals on my battery and then connected it back.... Thats when I learned that I also had an alarm.

Luckily my first attempt at disarming it worked. I knew a few tricks so I tried them.

I quickly turned on the accessory with the key and hit the arm/disarm button.

This is the only to disarm my alarm without the remote. Kind of a pain, so I have to get it just removed.

It looks like you may have had an alarm but it has been disconnected, since in most cases disconnecting and re connecting the battery will arm and re-set it.

If the little red led stays off after the reconnect of the battery, then the alarm is most likely not even connected anymore.

If it is a toyota alarm, a dealship parts counter might be able to order one for you. If it is 3rd party, go to an alarm installer and ask them to order a remote. I called around for mine and most were willing to iorder me a remote for my aftermarket alarm... unfortunately... its a toyota alarm and I have to go to the dealship and ask them.

Where is it likely to place the "box" for an aftermarket alarm? And it shouldn't be two horns in my car orginally, some one must of add it, right?

Yea.. the second horn is probably the siren for an aftermarket alarm. But from what I have been reading in this post... it is probably not hooked up anymore.
