Swaped a 2.2 for another 2.2 and had some problems because it was my first time to work on a toyota. Well I got the car put back togeather and it will run but if you touch the gas it will die. At times you can slowly increase the rpms but it is touchy. I checked all the vac lines and replaced the hole throtal body with the one off the other motor, still no diff. so not I am thinking fuel filter or pump. If filter I plan to upgrade to a newer chevy filter for better flow and it cost about $30+ cheeper. What would a better pump cost? Or could it be something diff?

you should have replaced the filter with the motor out of the car.
you can get a new filter from autozone for under 30$, please dont put chevy parts on your celica.
check your grounds.
make sure your ignitor is bolted to the firewall.
make sure your TPS and distributor plugs are properly connected.

Well if your car dies when you press on gas its either a clogged fuel filter or a bad fuel pump and I don't recommend using a chevy filter too stick with oem for the filter and the pump. Don't bother getting an aftermarket fuel pump unless you have "Big plans" for your 5sfe. wink.gif

Jk about the chevy filter! I have an oem on order and will pickup after 12pm. As for the car I do have big plans for the engine so a bigger pump will be needed with external fuel regulator. I just priced a pump at AZ it $139.95, so how much for after market? I want +600hp, looking for turbo and nos kit now.

A good aftermarket pump would be a walbro fuel pump I'm not sure on the price I think they average around $150 ??

Thanks for the help guys! Maybe now I can get this car on the road! I have had it for 2 weeks now and still have not been able to drive the car. Still not bad, I only paid $500 for the car because it had a rod knock but the car still looks new. Now I just need to work out the bugs!!!!
