So maybe some of you have seen this, but I think it is cool. I just came across it. Man do I wish I had a 3sgte!!
http://www.overboost.com/story.asp?id=343 And this is off the Rod Millen website: Toyota executives Jim Press, senior executive vice president, Yale Gieszl, vice chairman, and Bryan Bergsteinsson, group vice president and general manager of the company’s Lexus division. “We knew from the beginning that we wanted to build a 500-horsepower Celica,” said Bergsteinsson. “Of course, with that much power we knew it would be built as an all-wheel drive car. At that point we sat down with Rod Millen and began detailed discussions and development of the ultimate Celica.” To reach the 500 horsepower goal, TRD began work on tuning a four-cylinder production powerplant previously used in the Celica All-Trac (1988-1993). It is a derivative of the power-laden engine used in Toyota’s championship-winning IMSA GTP race cars of the early ‘90s, and Rod Millen’s record-setting Pikes Peak Hill Climb runners. The bore and stroke were increased, a turbocharger installed and Rod Millen Motorsports custom-built a set of headers made out of inconel and a stainless steel exhaust. As a result, the Ultimate Celica produces 500 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and creates 340 lbs.-ft. of torque at 5,500. |

Yeh, this is pretty much a repost at this point. Most of us on the board have seen that. And in my opinion its pretty bad ass except for the indent thing in the front.

Correct
This thing is very old but, isn't it rediculus to use the gen 7 shell and the four-cylinder production powerplant previously used in the Celica All-Trac (1988-1993) to make the "Ultimate Celica". We already have the Ultimate Celica and its Called the gen 6 GT4. p.s. and 500 bhp is not really "Ultimate". I know at least 5 people in my country with GT4s or swaps that make that. The last project my mechanic is working on is a 700bhp GT4. So it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that all the "Ultimate Celica" was, was a publicity stunt for the 7 gen. I really fell off the chair laughing by the comment that "Toyota executives Jim Press, senior executive vice president, Yale Gieszl, vice chairman, and Bryan Bergsteinsson, group vice president and general manager of the company’s Lexus division. “We knew from the beginning that we wanted to build a 500-horsepower Celica,” said Bergsteinsson. “Of course, with that much power we knew it would be built as an all-wheel drive car. At that point we sat down with Rod Millen and began detailed discussions and development of the ultimate Celica.” " It took all those people to do this? Why? Most of the members on this site could do much better. |
