has anyone ever thought of putting an engine in the rear? it would make our 6th gen a RWD, and i personally think it would be awesome! if this has been talked of b4, sorry. i tried a search and of the 52 pages, i didnt see anything.
i thought about buying another 6g, and try this. the hardest part would prolly be the tranny controls, and a new firewall. |

call me crazy but i remember years ago (maybe around the year 2000) that i was looking up some celica pictures back when i still had my 4th gen, and i came across this one white 6th gen show car (can't remember whether it was a hatch or coupe, more likely a hatch tho) that was heavily modified with an engine in the rear (MR style).
i don't remember if it was an english or asian webpage but i saw it... -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

VW did it with the new MKV GTI...W12 motor it was sick.
putting the motor in the back is probably more difficulty (it is) than the route i'm going to go... supra tranny ftw |

the only thing that comes to mind when i read this was the tiburon with 2 motors. personally i think i would be cool but not worth it. your best bet would be to do the AWD and then make it a FR car. there is a st185 that it has been done to and it was pretty sweet. there is a youtube of it doing donuts and burn outs.

I had seen a monster golf with twin engine awd turbo setup, it was pretty crazy.
If you want RWD, just drop in a LS1 with a 6 speed and a custom rear end. That was my plan... not as hard as you would think. LS1's get dropped into lots of cars using a painless wiring setup. Then you would have 1 light, powerful, easy to build motor instead of the 2 heavy frankenstein setup. If you really want to try this you should buy mine and I can hook you up with the shop that was going to do the work for me. -------------------- |

I DO remember this. (it was an english webpage) I'm trying to find that page now (if it's still up) but I remember it looked kinda stupid because they didn't have the motor recessed far enough and you could see the motor through the back glass while standing @ least 5-6ft. away from it. Not knocking the idea though. I would be neat to see one perfected though. -------------------- CLOSED on 25 acres! -shop coming soon.... |
