I'm getting an Ipod for Christmas and it'd be really nice if I could integrate it into my audio system. The problem is that my head unit (Eclipse CD 3434) doesn't have an auxiliary input and there's no adapter to change the cd changer input to aux that will work or that I know of. A FM modulator is out of the question. I don't want to murder my music quality. Also an Ipod compatible head unit is out of the question (lack of money). I'm wondering if it would be possible to get an equilizer and connect the Ipod directly to that bypassing any head unit to send the signal to my amp (eventually amps).

Simplified:

Ipod -> Equilizer -> Amps

Will it work?

I know I'll need to do something for the remote wire for the amps, but I think I've found a solution for that.

i don't see why it wouldn't work. I think the only thing you have to worry about is the output voltage on the equalizer.

actually eclipse makes an ipod interface for your model as well... its the ipc-106, i have the AVN5435, its works very well... your model is listed in the owners manual, you'll even be able to control the songs right from your head unit, it connects via the cd changer control.. check ebay... ipc-106, mine ran about $50 with shipping
