Hey, i got a question that i hope some of you can answer for me. Recently, the car has begun to make some squealing noises during idle, it doesn't seem to happen when the car is revved or on a load. Also, this doesn't happen when the car is cold, (mostly when warmed-up), before this happened i changed the distributor cap and rotor (but i don't think this could have caused it... everything is tite and secure). Initially i thought it was the belts, but the sound doesn't seem like its coming from that side of the car, it sounds more like from the middle to driver side. The car drives normal and without hesitation (i've been driving on it for the last few days)

here is a video clip of it, hopefully it isn't something bad...

Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions!

sounds like a bearing, maybe idler or tensioner pulley bearing.

is that sound coming out of a cold or warm engine?
i get that sound when i just start the engine and the power steering transmission belt is loose
it does sound to me like one of the belts under your hod is loose, since when you step on the gas the squeal goes away

the sound is there when the engine is warmed up, so is it safe to just keep driving it this way (ie: till the belt gets pretty worn) or should i replace this as soon as possible

thanks for any more info/help!

You need to know what exatly is causing the squeal. I can in no way give you a definite answer what is wrong withut seeing the car myself. If it is one of the transmission belts loose then it can be tighten or replaced. Costs are minor.

It's possible it "is" a belt even though you think it's not...probably powersteering belt loose like stated in the prior post...or maybe even the waterpump's on its way out.
