juat wondering what would i need in order to swap the auto climate control from an st202

Cant you just switch it to self adjusting?

ah sorry, thought you meant the other way round.
Good luck. I had a brief look behind the aircon units of both of the types and they looked pretty different. Will probably open them up again this weekend and see whats the difference if you have not found your answer by then. |

Will probably open them up again this weekend and see whats the difference if you have not found your answer by then. They are very different. To do the swap you'll need: * an extra engine bay sensor * JDM climate control compressor (pump) in the engine bay. It is different to the US/UK one. * replace the temperature sensor inside the aircon heat exchanger (the middle box behind the glove box) * a different aircon resistor pack * an aircon power transistor (not fitted for aircon) * a light sensor (goes into the top of the dashboard) * a cabin temperature sensor (goes under the steering wheel) * an air tube that goes between the cabin air sensor and near the drivers' foot rest * two short aircon wiring looms * cabin wiring loom from a donor car with climate control * different aircon amplifier module * an extra relay (climate control high speed relay) * an air vent mode solenoid from donor car (they are different) * a temperature mix solenoid from donor car (solenoid not fitted in aircon) * temperature mix actuator cable from donor car (they are different) * climate control (the unit with switches on that goes in the center console * climate control ECU (not fitted in aircon, sits on top of the main ECU) You'll need to completely unplug the cabin wiring loom then remove the arm rest, lower centre console, steering wheel, dashboard. You'll then need to combine your old loom with the donor loom; change over the aircon heat exchanger temperature sensor; run wires to the engine bay sensor; diagnostics connector and compressor; and install the remaining two cabin sensors. Install all the remaining bits, attach the cabin wiring loom to the dashboard again and put everything back together. In short, the work involved is probably a little short of an engine swap. It isn't really worth the effort involved unless you like a challenge or really really want climate control. I also have problems with connecting climate control. Firstly i wanted to put it in my celica st then to gt and now i've gt4 And I still have no climate control.
So maybe we can help each other. I still have no wiring diagram of climate control.... |

As I said above, you'll need to find a donor car, get to the wiring looms and unpick them to seperate the individual wires and connectors you need. It is a big job. ok. I have everything that goes under dashboard and thats my problem... because everything is from celica JDM (rhd) and my gt4 is LHD.... everything is different ... even the colours of the main cables I will try to get the JDM wiring diagram

Where exacly is this sensor in engine bay? My friend has JDM celica so I will look but I don't know how it looks.... I don't know. That is the last piece of the puzzle for me. I need to trace the blue/white, yellow and yellow/black wires that go from the cabin into the engine bay. It may be an additional 1-wire or 2-wire sensor or a different existing sensor. Okay, there are seven additional wires that need to be added to the 3s-ge engine wiring loom:: Five additional wires for the 3s-ge engine wiring loom in the engine bay: A yellow wire and a blue wire that run around the passenger wheel arch. A yellow/black wire that runs to the compressor plug. A yellow/green wire from the ECU to the diagnostic port. A blue/white wire that goes to the throttle sensor. yellow/black runs from pin 3 of the 8-pin white or black connector at the bottom middle of the passenger footwell to pin 3 of the compressor plug in the engine bay. The yellow and yellow/black wires need to be added to the engine bay wiring loom that runs from the passenger footwell arround the front passenger wheel arch and on to the fuse box and crash bar. The two wires run to the ambient outside air temperature sensor at the bottom of the radiator middle bracket bar. yellow/black runs from pin 1 of the 26-pin ecu connector. Finally, there is a yellow/green wire that runs from the diagnostic port (CCo pin) to the engine ECU. On the 3s-fe it is pin 7 of the 26-pin ECU connector (also CCo pin), on the 3s-ge it is pin 8 of the 12-pin connector. The wire is spliced, the third leg runs to pin 15 of the 19-pin white connector behind the radio. The other side runs to a two pin connector under the driver's seat. The return wire is brown running from the driver's seat through pin 16 of the 19-pin white connector and to the earthing point near the ECU. There are a couple of wires that run along the engine bay loom inside the body of the car (they don't cross the firewall): blue/yellow to the engine ECU. blue/white to the idle up / aircon sensors assembly. blue/yellow runs from the 8-pin white or black connector at the bottom middle of the passenger footwell. It is pin 7 on that connector and runs to the engine ECU. On the 3s-fe engine (94-96) it is pin 15 of the 22-pin connector. There is another blue/white wire - just a different colour for an existing wire. On the 3s-fe the same wire is red/blue, on the UK 3s-ge it is purple/white. It goes to the idle up / aircon sensors assembly in the engine bay (back of the bay passenger side, just below the window and next to where the loom crosses the firewall into the cabin. The easiest way to do the wiring is to both keep the st202 relay and fuse and also use the st204 relay. If you are going to go this route, you need to splice the blue/white wire from pin 8 of the white 8-pin plug (10877) into the purple wire at pin 8 of the smaller orange plug (11556) on the climate control. Don't cut the purple wire, just splice the blue/white wire into it. This is the signal to turn on the blower via the blower relay. It is connected to ground when the blower should be running.
