Cool a twin charged Corolla I gotta see this. In my opinion id rather have a twin charged celica than v8 or 12 motor. Gas is gonna be a bitch to pay for.

Well Doc. After reading all these posts, and if no one has came to you yet. Once I land this position selling real estate, and can find someone or some way to pass smog here in California.... I would be happy to make a visit to you within a 5-6 month period of working in my new job. Wait, scratch that. 5-6 if I don't get that position, but landing another job if I can find one that can pay me more like around $15/hr. Unless I can get that job as the real estate agent, then I can see you sooner than that. I want to ask you so much, but I am going to bite my lip and just see what happens. I feel as though I said too much too soon. But just keep me in mind for the future.

sorry to open up an old thread. But I'd love to see a 5VZFE put into a celica. Whats the chances of matching it up w/ a FWD trans to not have to convert to RWD? I'm also thinking about a 6cyc lexus motor so I could have a Lexus Celica

the chances of a 5VZ bolting up to a compatible transmission is %100. it bolts right up to a E-153 or S54
which lexus V6 specificly? they have 3VZFE, 1MZFE, 3MZFE, 2GRFE and 2GRFSE. -------------------- ----------------------6GC's FIRST V6----------------------

thanks man, Idk. I'd have to check out specs. Look at aftermarket availabilty. And play the numbers. I'm getting the itch to get my celicas engine taken care of. Its my extra vehicle so I can afford to have it parked for a few months. And want to start getting it in show condition. The 3MZFE sounds good though because it'll still get me good gas mileage where the 5VZFE would give me a little better then my truck I drive everyday.

the best source of information is on the MR2OC forum and MR2 Board

I was already on http://www.v6mr2.com/ checking out the engine specs. I'm leaning towards 5VZFE only because of the TRD S/C. But then again I want the TRD S/C for my 4.0 Tacoma. I need to step away from the computer
I guess it comes down to if I want to keep an NA setup or force induction down the road. This post has been edited by chucho: May 31, 2008 - 11:09 PM |

well i have bought and torn down a 5vz, jsut ordered the forged pistons. Been keeping this project under wraps, cuz il lget bombared with pic requests and i dont wantto dissapoint cuz this project will take forever, about a year plus. I ll have the engine built up by end of summer, and all turbo components by end of year. After that next is saving up to actually put it in. Funny thing my dumbass hasnt decided on tranny setups yet, i know what all ones bolt up but i seriously doubt the fwd will fit i have to measure and research. Ill most likely have a rwd or awd conversion done. And before people bash me about how much it costs...i have almost no bills a good job and im spreading this project over a long time span.

i'd go AWD before RWD considering half the work would already be done on our cars

You guys all know that I've been doing swaps in Celicas for a long time, and after doing enough of the 3SGTE, 3SGE, 4AGE swaps, etc, I'm feeling the need for something a little off the wall. I have a feeling that there are some Celica owners out there who are thinking the same thing, they want something a little different. I've got three projects in mind that I'd be interested in doing, and I might even give a discount if someone steps up to the plate to have one done. 1. 1UZFE swap. The 1UZFE is the 4.0 V8 engine from the Lexus LS400. It makes between 265 and 300hp depending on the version. I would like to swap this engine, FRONT-WHEEL DRIVE, into a Celica, using an E153 or E58 transmission (LSD optional). I have personally seen this done sideways in a MK1 MR2, which is no bigger, if not smaller, than the Celica engine bay. We have all the equipment needed at my shop, and besides me, we now have another expert fabricator and tig welder that we just hired. I estimate the TOTAL cost of the engine swap, including the engine, transmission, all custom metal fabrication and installation, turn-key and ready to go out the door, at $9000. 2. AWD 3SGTE conversion. This one has been done before and there's a number of threads recently on the subject. I've been ready to do one of these for a while, so if there's someone out there serious about having it done, I'm up for it. I estimate the cost of the whole conversion, including all the parts, 3SGTE engine (3rd gen) and transmission, labor, fabrication, and so on, turn-key and ready to roll, at $11,000. 3. 1JZGTE or 2JZGTE swap and conversion to REAR WHEEL DRIVE. Not a typo. You know what it is, you know you want it. We can do it. Total cost including everything: $12,000. WHO'S UP?! dear mr.tweak, you prob dont know or remember me. but i've been stalking you for a while. the only issue i have with you is you're half way around the world (in in nyc.) but any who....im veeeery serious about these 3 options. i am currently saving to do something big around this time next year. your prices are right up my ally. i really like your turn key ways. i am more than happy to pay you for your work. but like i said...next year is my trigger time. 1. this is the most attractive of the 3, not because of price....but because of its humble set up. it retains the front wheel drive...with a decent amount of hp....but myfear is that engine. is it battle ready? lets be serious....even tho its built like a rock...its built to be driven in a lux car....can it handle the beating we give on our 53\3s so on and so forth? hmmmmmm can i slap a turbo on there and not worry? hmmmmmm 2. i reeeeally like this one. awd??? 3rd gen 3s??? sounds like a go. but how will this affect the car itself? isn't the gt4 chasis a lil diffrent from the american gt? while you can make it work...will it work the way its supposed to? do i have to worry about chasis flex? 3. same issues as the awd...but a lil more worry-some. you take an awd platform and force it into rwd....how will the car react....then you slap the 2j in it??? lol...wow!!! its gottah be loads of fun. but is it safe controllable fun? hmmmm without a doubt lsd will help calm all 3 options down....but will that be enough? Im all for the engine madness...but i just need to know about the over all well being and balance of the car. in any event...if you can sell me on how practical any or all of these swaps are....then you and i will have a really good summer next year. 1. This is my favorite of the three as well because while being a totally crazy swap, it's also keeping it simple by not changing the overall aspect of the car. The 1UZ is a fantastic engine, quite possibly the most reliable engine Toyota has ever built. It does use an aluminum block, so a low boost turbo system could be done with proper tuning and good quality parts.
2. The chassis is indeed different, this would be a major project but at the same time it has been done a couple of times so that's good to know. With this swap many things would have to be done to ensure the integrity of the chassis. The first thing that I would do before anything else would be to install a full roll-cage to help keep everything stable. 3. With this swap, it would hardly be correct to even refer to the car as a Celica anymore, basically we would be using the Celica frame as a basis and build a custom car out of it. Again, a full racing rollcage would be the first step. As for being safe and controllable.... that all depends on the driver Needless to say these prices are subject to change so if anyone decides that they want to do a swap like this, contact me. -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |
