My stock 1997 ST header has a crack on it. I've been too lazy to do anything, but I believe I should replace it as soon as possible.

I've been looking at 7AFE stock headers from eBay, and the shinny 7AFE headers from Corollas. I've heard a lot of stories (from you guys) that the Corolla header is too short, and the flex pipe is missing an O2 sensor hole. And then some members on here stated that there ARE flex pipes on eBay that has the O2 sensor hole (which I couldn't find), and then there were some members on here that says the O2 hole is a plug type and not the screw type (or the other way around)...., and then something about Pre-O2 sensor, and Post-O2 sensor...... basically I'm confused.gif

And yet, I haven't heard any stories about the stock replacement on eBay.

If I'm mainly looking for something that works, that lasts, best for the bucks, what kind of headers should I get?!?!?! Do you have a link?

My ebay header i got was about 7 inches to short. I just got 2 new exhaust flanges and pipe and fixed that hole 7 inch gap. It was really easy to rig up but, i'm not sure if your into rigging stuff up.

this is what i had to work with.

Great image!

I heard from previous posts that we have two O2 sensors, one on the header, one on the flex pipe (or something like that). Seems like the eBay header kits do not have two O2 sensor holes, did you have to customize it and drill your own hole?

there is a how-to on the main page covering all of this and many posts about it. Do a search with "header" and with my name too, there'll be a few posts about it.

I did search a lot of posts about this subject. In fact I read so many threads I got completely lost with who to listen to. Thank god there's a how-to. It didn't even hit me to read there. Thanks Batman, found the article.

did you put a flex pipe in that gap? otherwise that's not good on the exhaust system.
also being in cali i would say it's safest for you to just get a stock replacement for the header tomazws

Yea that was what I was thinking. Should I get the eBay stock header, or get it directly from Toyota. Is there a difference? I mean, if I get a stock one, I might want to get one that actually passes smog tests. smile.gif

FYI the 94-95 and the 96-97 ST exhaust manifolds are different.

HP Racing makes a header for the 7afe. I put it on my car cuz I got it for a steal of a deal. But,I used to have the $30 ebay header after my stock one split due to me jumpin in the car one day and rocketing to work without letting the motor warm up. Like,in my 7th gen I don't push the motor til 2 clicks on the heat gauge. You might want to start doing the same.

lol...

I wonder if the eBay header (not the shiny one, but the stock replacement one) is same as our stock one and if it will have no problem passing smog tests.

The flex pipe is under the engine basically, you just can't see it. I also made a mount for the cat so its held up even with the header.

I called 2KRacing today because they have the OBX ST header listed on their website. (http://www.2kracing.com/Vehicle_Specific_M...ca/Headers.html)

Turned out they don't have it in stock, though they have a Celica ST header manufactured by SPIDER..... it's not posted on their website but they have it for $190 something....

Have you guys heard of a spider header? I've never heard of it before....
