so, we had a bit of a problem.
it seems the front lip wasnt properly attached by one of the guys who reassembeld the car, and steve had a problem on the ride home. needless to say, the front lip is now damaged, and steve is NOT happy. im 100% sure that we will be able to fix it for him, however, he is still faced with the inconvienience of bringing the car back down to us, and leaving it for a day or 2 to get it back 100%. with the shop closed for the holiday weekend, there isnt much that we can do for him till monday, but come then steve, we will take care of ya. sorry man. on a good note, the car looks GREAT. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

car looks good, i remeber when i had my old gts, i had it modded pretty well, it was a real quick na. Only things i didn't like about the 00 gts, horrible shift gates, bad tranny, motor was nice, it got me everywhere, until i blew it:(*

I've heard mixed things....pretty much you need to replace the lift bolts before 60k,not redline it,and only hit lift when the engine is fully warm. I try to treat it like a turbo and I've spanked a lot of expensive cars that I thought would have been faster including Porsches....the only bad part about having a 7th gen is the 7th gen forums, they are all self righteous dinks over there who think they know everything. 6gc is way more helpful and considering I still technically own one (eventhough I am not driving it ATM) I like being here.

actually, the first series lift bolts( in the 00) had a recall on them, so i would change them out soon, next lift bolts maintaince is required every 15-30k, u can hit lift after the second bar on the temp gauge, but wait till its fully warmed up, all in all its a fun little car, good gas milage, and relaiblity, just don't miss shift, the 00 had very tight shift gates, 03+ are probally the best since they bumped the rev limiter up to 8200 again, but urs can go to 8400, thats what makes the 00 the fastest year, hows ur landing lift skills?

Couple of questions: (bold area in quote denotes area of question) 1) i know yamaha made the motor for the gts, and i know the 3sgte needs a tune up every 30k miles, but replacing the lift bolts every 30k seems like a big ordeal. (grant it i dont own one im just curious about it, where are the lift bolts? etc?) 2) what happens if u hit lift (which im assuming means the VVTI kicks in b4 its fully warm? (i presume some kind of damage or un needed wear, im looking for more specifics) 3) What does the term "landing lift" mean? (u used it above) edit: sorry to jack your thread This post has been edited by devilsden97: Jul 17, 2008 - 2:43 PM -------------------- Kawi Love |
