I am looking for a new canister style muffler. I would get a whole new exhaust but for now i am on a budget as i am in school. I have heard some good things about megan racing and found this muffler on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Megan-Racin...sspagenameZWDVW

There was anouher thread started about obx mufflers. Out of the two which do you think would sound better (i would have posted this in the other thread but i didnt want to jack it). Also when i buy one of these what else do i need to do to have it welded on the stock exhaust. Do they just cut the older muffler off and weld new one on? Thanks for the help.

They're pretty much the exact same thing.

Both of them are good. Go with whatever you want. I would personally save a few bucks and get the OBX.

Like I said in a PM with you, I recommend getting a full catback put on. Go to an exhaust shop and tell them you want a (whatever size piping you want, I suggest 2.25"-2.5") catback, and get a resonator as well. They'll do the rest.

No problem. I mean getting whole new piping from the cat, to the rear of the car, and the bigger piping will help with performance. If you find a local exhaust shop, and bring them the muffler, they'll be able to do the rest. Just tell them you want a catback (size is your choice), and like previously mentioned, I'd get a resonator as well.

I'd say go with 2.25".

It won't stick out if the exhaust shop does the exhaust correctly. If the muffler is longer, they compensate by making the piping shorter.

It really depends on where you go. Go to yellowpages.com and search for exhaust shops in your zip code, and call around.

I found a local shop that did the piping and resonator for $130, including labor, so it was $200 total with the muffler.

No problem at all. smile.gif

The silencer is removable. There's a screw holding it in on the bottom.

the screw at the bottom just allows you to twist for extra flow. it is not fully removable. this is the OBX i mean.

No, it's fully removable. There are two screws on the inside of the silencer, which like you mentioned, changes the flow of it.

Then there's a screw on the OUTSIDE of the end of the muffler, which holds the silencer in place.
