For those that are looking for a reasonably priced video unit that has a named brand you can trust, Amazon is selling the Pioneer AVHP4000DVD for $370 shipped! Here is the link:
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVHP4000DVD-...5712&sr=8-1 This is an amazing price for a unit that has many awesome features. You can find more info about it directly from Pioneer here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...rs/AVH-P4000DVD -Matt This post has been edited by GotToyota: Jul 22, 2008 - 2:50 PM |

Great find...too bad its not on my list of stuff to get right now. Does anyone know if they make these things with detachable faces? After I got busted in to I dont feel right leaving something like that in the car overnight, unless I had a garage.

Agreed. not to mention the whole fact of the sun beaming into your car and wiping out the screen But it's DEFF a good find at a nice price (except for all the blue lighting ) Deff looks capable, and with a great name behind it
Spider77, when you get ready to purchase one, make sure you ask about that. Dont forget an alarm This post has been edited by D-Man: Jul 22, 2008 - 4:32 PM -------------------- QUOTE (presure2 @ Nov 6, 2010 - 6:16 AM) Via FB: fcuking awsome!!! D-man FTW! Dont forget an alarm I would make a black cover for the screen that's the same size, that way it doesn't get damaged by the sun. The screen color and buttons are also able to be changed. I might get one of these when I get paid, it would look sweet in the Celica. -Matt |

From what I remember when I looked at a display of it, just basic colors, blue, red, orange, green, yellow, and a few others. Quite a few choices though. But just so everyone who is looking at this knows, it's a basic video unit, cannot do GPS or anything like that, but it is iPod and USB device ready. -Matt |

GPS in Houston = Garbage...Know your Freeway Systems = FTMFW!
Besides, too may features in one unit, can really ruin it all that action on a 6.5 in screen... you'll end up trying to change the track on the CD then wind up driving to Gay-Al's Man-thong SuperCenter instead of wal*mart Seperate systems FTW! GPS should be higher up anyway; like on a windshield or dash or something ...IMHO... Blue/Red/Amber/Green/Violet. An alarm is a nice idea, but honestly, Im so used to hearing alarms all day and add to that jet noise, I'll sleep right through it. Stupid apartment living, at least I see the cops all the time ever since my incident. Maybe I'll just fill my car with snakes or something.

For theft-deterrent, you could always chop the front face off the factory radio, then place it over the Pioneer whenever you park your car. -Matt |

If I even had the factory radio....got rid of that thing about a year ago. The other pioneer version (the one where the screen comes out and up) that has a detachable face. But its a single din and I kinda like the look of the "box"...cleaner.

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible to have a double din video unit with a detachable face.

I would too, but like all things tech, it goes in today "state of the art" only to be old in a month. Not like I have that kind of money to throw around. But im sure I could keep it alive for awhile, long enough anyways.

You wire the harness that comes with the radio into the one with the female ends, then it plugs right up into the male factory harness. Looks just like the harnesses at the bottom, it all comes in one thing. Search Ebay for "Toyota wiring harness" and you'll find them. Just make sure it's for your year, I believe the harness you want works for Toyotas from 1987-2002. -Matt This post has been edited by GotToyota: Jul 22, 2008 - 8:11 PM |
