285+whp and just about 300ftlbs ![]() damn! it still falls off around 5000 RPMs though, imagine those numbers with cams! I'd think well over 300WHP would be achieved then... -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

just another overlay i set up to illustrate the diffrence between my setup and shannons.
my run is in blue, run #29 shannons car in red, run #22 ![]() as you can see, my car spools about 600rpm or so sooner, but gives up ~50whp up top because of the smaller hot side. seeing this REALLY makes me want to go ahead and buy the real garret 46trim t3/4. going from what the 3s guys see, its normally ~3-400 rpm diffrence in spool between a 50trim and a 46trim...supossedly (hell you cant trust those ebay knockoffs, right??!! LOL ) theyre turbo is a 57trim. even if we could only gain 3-400rpm in spool time, that would be a KILLLLLER. DISCUSS! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Last time i looked at flow charts... for a stock 5sfe you want a T3/TO4e 46 trim
A 54 trim is good on a higher flowing head (at a lower pressure ratio) which is a wider compressor map. which makes sense for say an 8000rpm cammed 5sfe or a 3sgte. But for a 5sfe (high pressure ratio, relatively low flow figures) which is a taller map, the 46 trim is perfect. If you can do an external wastegated T3/T04e 46 trim i'd think you'd post some really nice numbers... Restrict the A/R to get the fast spool... and use an external 40mm or larger wastegate so that the small A/R doesn't choke off your top end. if you do that, and you do it right you'll have a graph that looks like the best parts of your run and shannon's run combined. Of course, nobody ever listens to me. What do I know about anything. -------------------- 2005 MB C200 Kompressor- K&N, Apexi WS2 Catback, DIY Voltage stabilizer, Intrax Springs, H&R RR swaybar, VDO Boost Gauge @ 6psi, Greddy L7 plugs, +0 Rear tires

Nice work guys! I'm starting to like this 5sfte more than any 2nd or 3rd gen 3s. Power is ready available any time. Will you ever try going with a full ems?

Just out of my curiosity what horror stories have u guys heard about the ebay turbos..have u ever heard of one lasting this long? Im not trying to be funny I really just wondering. It's common that their manifold would crack, the turbo housing would crack, the turbo would seize, oil leaks out of the turbo, there's many but it just kind of depends which batch you get I think... Some of the Supra guys made good power out of it with the turbo kit they have on their website. There are 3 Mr2 guys that I know that have bought the $400 kit and it worked out pretty well for them except for one of them but I think he just has a tuning problem. So far it works well for the Toyota guys but not for others... This post has been edited by JDM_Factory: Aug 24, 2008 - 12:17 PM -------------------- ![]() |

I don't mean to advertise, but I have a garret t3/t4 46 trim that I bought for my 5sfte that I'll no longer be needing. PM me for details if you're interested.
btw, the ebay turbo may have been working so far, but if/when it does fail, it could cause catastrophic damage. I finally figured out why my 5sfe blew not too long ago. I knew that the motor had metal in it that had chewed up the pistons and cylinder walls, but I didn't know where that metal had come from until I took my turbo/manifold/downpipe assembly apart and realized that the exhaust turbine for my turbo was missing altogether, and then I realized it was all in my engine... -------------------- ![]() 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

Its impossible for the exhaust side of your turbo to end up in your engine. Gravity and the exhaust gasses push everything out and away from the motor through the exhaust.
