Hey all,
as some of you may know, shannon and jim (supershannon77) have a 3sgte swapped 6gc, that they bought from RJB on the forum. They started off with a 91 auto GT, that they had a local shop install a "ebay special" turbo kit on. the shop installed the kit, and promptly blew the motor @ 5.5 psi. shannon then had the shop source and install a 99 5s, and made ~147whp if I remember correctly, with the auto tranny, @ 5.5psi They then blew said auto tranny. lol So, IIRC, they sold the 5th gen to a friend, and bought RJBs car. They have had a few problems with it, including a bad tranny, which Defgeph and I went down and replaced for them. While i was down there, jims brother joe bought the old 5th gen back, with the blown tranny, and fresh 99 motor in it. We disscussed diffrent options for it, including a manual tranny swap, but with the car having pre 93 electronics, and no knock sensor system, I convinced them the best thing to do would be to find a nice 6th gen chassis to swap the engine package into. At that time, we also disscussed power goals, and to me, it seemed like Jim and Shannon were just looking for a streetable, everyday drivable car, with ~225 or so hp, to make the trip a bit more enjoyable . Where Joe, on the other had, is really looking to build a BEAST down the road, 350+whp ect. Fast forward a few weeks, and browsing the FS section here on the board, I see a nice 95 with a blown motor. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=49717&hl= Bing, Bang, Boom, Jim and Joe are on it, and go put a deposit on the car. We set everything up, and a few weeks later, Jim, Shannon, and Joe, load the 5th gen INTO the back of a uhaul truck, put the 6th gen on a car hauler attached to the back of said uhaul, and drove them up here. here are some pics and discriptions of whats gone on since. They arrive with the cars: We get the 6th gen off the car carrier: HOLY CRAP, they really DID stick the 5th gen in the back of the Uhaul!!!!! this was NOT as easy as it looks: mmmm yellow nology wires!! LMAO With that done, the following morning we got right to work, and got the cars up and draining, and prepped to get the bad motor out: Then we pulled the motor and tranny out of the 6th gen: -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

Nice stock Evo/STi beater. hahaha thank you...look at your car..congrats Okay so a few weeks ago I was driving to get food and out of no where my car started to act funny..it was bogging and had a weird idle..I pulled over and Jim came to drive me home. Just to be safe. Jim and I looked at things and tried different things... we also called Manny to see what he thought it could be..anyway we took the spark plugs out to see the gaps are all outta whack...cylinder 4 gaps prong..(I'm not sure what it is call) was pretty much touching and cylinder 3 gap was way to far apart..once we re gap them the car runs beautifully..it was really weird..I couldn't beilive it was something so little..anyway I am going to order a box of spark plugs just to have incase..and for when I do tune ups. -------------------- |

Yea the spark plug was weird..I have had no problems since so that's good. -------------------- |

Also, do you gap your plugs yourself? Ive never ever gapped my Celica's plugs. I buy new V-Power ones and throw them in. Car always runs great. my only guess as to how the gaps got messed up is detonation inside the cylinders put a lot of force on them.
Also, I've heard you're not supposed to re-gap spark plugs once they've been used. They're cheap so might as well replace them to be safe. -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

so let me get this straight
the jim/shannon team now have- a 5th gen shell, rjb's old car which has been fixed (who drives it?), and shannons 5sfte 6th gen so whoever you bought the 5th gen back from had put a 5s in it? i was thinking it was a 3sgte--- correct me if im wrong |

I don't know if its the calibration issue on my innovate wideband, but when I plug my laptop in it totally reads differently compared to my db gauge. I would think the uego one is more accurate?
And I'm pretty sure the aem uego wideband is cheaper too, unless you plan on doing the DIY wideband. -------------------- 98 Celica gt red- totaled deer
