so let me get this straight the jim/shannon team now have- a 5th gen shell, rjb's old car which has been fixed (who drives it?), and shannons 5sfte 6th gen so whoever you bought the 5th gen back from had put a 5s in it? i was thinking it was a 3sgte--- correct me if im wrong Haha...So I started with a 5th gen...had a whole turbo set up put into it but the engine blew so I had a 99 5sfe put in it..It was auto so then I started having trans issue...sold the car. I bought RJB's car had a bunch of problems Manny help me out and but My friend Joey bought my 5th gen that I sold and a 6 gen shell and had Manny swap everything from the 5th gen into the 6 gen...Him and I traded cars after that bc I wanted my 5sfte back and he wanted a 3sgte...now he sold the 3sgte to my boyfriend and he is having a 3rd gen 3sgte swapped into it...and thats the story for now...shorly I am leaving to the track to see what the 5s runs. I don't know if its the calibration issue on my innovate wideband, but when I plug my laptop in it totally reads differently compared to my db gauge. I would think the uego one is more accurate? And I'm pretty sure the aem uego wideband is cheaper too, unless you plan on doing the DIY wideband. I have been looking at the aem uego wideband and so far I think thats what I am going to get. -------------------- |

Go with the AEM. I have had so many problems with my Innovate wideband its crazy. Dustin got the AEM, plugged it in, and its been fine ever since. -------------------- |

Just get the AEM UEGO. Install is a breeze. The Innovate wasn't a headache to install, but I'm sure there had to be more steps involved in getting it up and running.

Hey follow 6gc members
Ok so yesterday we went to the track...first it was packed I guess since its the end of the season and next cars were breaking down like crazy...so we didn't get in as many runs as we hoped for. our best run was a 14.3 I don't have the slip with me at this second so Ill I remember was it was a 14.3 and the trap speed was a 106 With practice and getting used to the car i think we will break 13's but we gotta wait until next season..It was Jims first time racing at a track so he was really excited and had a great time...now there is only room for improvement I didn't race bc my mommy forbid me and I still respect what she says and always will.....me not racing meant more to her then me racing so I passed and let the boys do it. Jim should have a follow up post explaining his experience...oo and man is was cold so cold ahh. -------------------- |

Speaking of which, I think its time to replace mine. Lasted me two years though, and spraying alcohol on it probably helps shorten its life. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Like Shannon said, it was my first time ever at the track...so yes I was very anxious and excited. My first run ever was the best time I got with this car, I was only able to run it twice. Here's how the first run went. I got into the stagging lane first and waited for the other driver (didn't even realize this) and got my self ready. I got the car up to 3000 solid and waited for the tree. slipped the clutch on the 3rd yellow and pulled down a .275 reaction time. 1st gear I slipped the clutch pretty well and stayed about 75% throttle until I grabbed traction and then went full throttle....seemed to work very well. Then I shifted into second and went full throttle but spun until third gear. Hey, like I said lack of experience here, I should have let off the throttle a bit but I didn't. Then the rest is easy, stay on the gas until you cross. That run I pulled in a 14.3 with a 2.4 60ft time (yea i know its bad, and that was my best 60ft time of the day LOLOLOLOLOL) I ran against a trans am that ran a 13.2. I had a faster 1/8 mile time then him, and was about 3mph slower in the 1/4. My second trip I was late to the tree and tried to rush the light to get a good reaction time which i did .032, but that was stupid. I should have sat there and prepared like the first run, because the reaction time does not affect your 1/4 time. Meaning if i sit 10 seconds at the tree after the light turns green, Those 10 seconds wont be added to the ET time, just in case someone didn't know this. I might thy to slip away to Raceway Park on Wednesday and stay a little calmer, and probably hold down at least a 4second reaction time (im not joking). Bring home the 13.XX number this car deserves.

The dreaded curse of the Island 14s strikes again...lol Not entirely sure of the origin of this joke [Tho I have seen a number of you EC swapped guys times] but since we have 3 tracks here I can def say that some tracks just suck for traction on FWD cars and some are so good you end up with 5 cars from you're crew with broken trannies and/or axles [personal experience - thankfully not my car]. Isn't there somewhere else for you guys to run nearby? Anyway - great first times Jim. Once you get the traction down you'll for sure be in the 13's This post has been edited by DEATH: Nov 10, 2008 - 5:16 PM -------------------- ENGINE: '93 RC 3S-GTE/WRC CT-20b [18-20PSI] PERF: TRD/HKS/ARP/NGK/MSD/ACT/Blitz/STRI/APEX'i/TwosRus/GReddy/Magnaflo/KOYO SUSP: Tein/Bilstein/SusTech/ INT: SS-III SEATS/Toyota Hyper Sports EXT: WRC/TRD/404 Its a safety feature so that people like you don't end up killing themselves or everyone around them. They put down much more glue there..just ask Joey he worked there for awhile and he said it was the worst job lol. Hopefully if our friends are working they can hook us up or something..time will tell..and lets hope no broken trannies or axles! -------------------- |

I'm dreading my first time, never even been to a track before but soon i will unveil the 5sfte -------------------- '99 Celica GT - White

I like the track. Once you get past the excitment it makes it much easier to get a good run. My best was 15.7 I believe, ran it 3 days after installing my 5 speed. I havent been to a track in years though. Would be nice to take the celica this spring/summer when its all done.

nice time guys..not bad for a first timer..i remember my first time, i had worst ever after i finish my run i was so excited/nervous my hands was shaking and my heart felt like it was going to pop out of my chest, with the mods i had done to my car i should of hit 13's too, i didnt want to go back. i wanted to drive away like the dude in FF part 1.... but yeah a couple more trys and im for sure you would hit 13's...just do what i do to pratices, just go to a empty block where no ones knows your car and do a couple lauches!!! with a couple intense runs you get it down in a quickness.

Not any real big updates motor wise.
I am in the process of still buying that wideband but something always comes up right b4 I go to buy it. I Got JDM tails coming on there way I also made most of my interior lights red. Nothing big but I enjoy doing little things so make the car a little more mine. The biggest thing for me is how happy I am that this car drives so nice. It seriously feels like the car came to the factory this way it drives so smooth. That is my fav part of my car. I also enjoy being able to wake up and no that ur car is gonna start when you go to start it. this build has just been great. I was thinking within a few weeks Ill post some pics up and have the wideband so I can tune the car down low. -------------------- |
