I have a slight problem of hesitation when I accelarate which my mechanic indicate that it is caused by the distributor and hence will need to be replaced (aprox $300 parts and labor). I have already tuned up the car (sparks, wires, etc). My question to you gang is, is this a job that I can tackle or it is a very big job where I will need special tools, jacks etc to replace the distributor? I've found the part for aprox $190, which makes me believe that the labor will only take 1 to 1:30 hours to complete, so I dont suspect to be a very highly skilled job to do...or am I wrong?
Your input or write ups are greatly appreciated. |

really easy to do, just scribe its current position on the head, undo the 2 bolts, pull it out, install the new oring on the new one, lube the new oring with some oil, and install it. it only goes onto the camshaft one way, and with your scribed mark you wont need to check timing after installing.
you sure its not a worn cap/rotor? -------------------- |

My mechanic did the cap rotor when he did the major tune up 7 months ago and I did also replaced the fuel filter. My biggest fear was that I needed to adjust the timing, but if I do the proper marking from what I read here is that I would not have to be concerned about that.
Heck, its a 1994 car, what do I have to loose, let me try |
