Netbook:
ASUS Aspire One
Intel Atom 1.6GHz with HT
1.5GB 533 RAM
8GB SSD
Intel onboard graphics
Running Ubuntu 8.10 X86 Beta

you mean the ACER Aspire One? tongue.gif

i have the same thing in blue, although im too lazy to pull out the keyboard to add extra ram. also i opted for the 160 GB HD and i loaded Vista Ultimate on there biggrin.gif hard to beat 7 hrs of battery life with less than 3 lbs of laptop.

in this pic its the smallest laptop on the bottom, with a 8.9" screen. The middle is my 17" P4 with 2 GB ram also running vista ultimate, and my 47" LCD is displaying the 17" laptop (although it will hook up to the 8.9" nicely)

pretty neat how its less than half the size of the bigger one

inside the compaq

6GC on the big screen

dunno why the screen looks so dull though. i hate my camera's flash mad.gif

OH SHI-

I made a typo. Thats very unlike me. Yeah, I was totally probably just thinking about my motherboard on my big computer.

It confuses the hell out of me how such a tiny thing can run vista, and apparently with Aero. Like how? Was the install forever? Does it have any functionality issues?

I think I am going to need to reinstall Ubuntu on mine since I am unable to get Compiz-Fusion working again. Compiz-Fusion is crucial to the enjoyment of my netbook. I upgraded from the beta to 8.10 and it did not complete entirely so there is a lot of **** that is wrong with it now, including textures with Wine. However I should poast pics of it and my giant computer, and maybe my old school Compaq R4000. That thing is a beast of a laptop.

Takes me back to the old days....

Grabbed the computer and monitor for free off craigslist. The keyboard and mouse from work (they were throwing the old ones out so I asked if I could have them smile.gif ). Everything works fine, they might not be up to date (not even close), but I consider this my "free computer set up". Also my Compaq laptop on top of the box for my new computer's tower. On the plus side, the free computer came with DOOM already installed on it, so I've been playing a little bit of that biggrin.gif

^^^lol yea i remember those days. along with those free "try AOL" floppys. it used to take 4 minutes just to log on. it was so routine to listen to it dial, then make that data noise, then "Youve got mail!" all while watching it go through those 3 steps.

doom was awesome. so was wolfenstein 3d haha

oh man, I am soo glad we are past dial up internet. We had it for far too long until we finally got broadband.

Only thing I'm disapointed about is I can't find one of the floppy disks for my Speed Racer game I used to love to play, so can't DL the game frown.gif

Hahaha yeah. You know what, I kind of miss the blue screen that told me in an overly technical way that after being up for 56 hours the drivers for my hard drive have failed and that I would need to restart instantly and that my system has become critically unstable. I honestly haven't experienced that since Windows 98 SE. THOSE were the days. I'm going to boot up my brother's old IBM laptop, just to relive that ****.

It's not much, but here's mine:

Asus A8N32-SLI
AMD 4200+
2gb Corsair XMS
eVGA 512MB 7950GT KO (thinking about going SLI if I can find another card without getting out-bidded on. lol)
Sound Blaster Platinum X-Fi
OCZ GameXStream 600W
WD 150GB Raptor
WD 500GB
Seagate 400GB
Seagate 1.5TB (Yes. That's 1500GB aka 1.5Tera)
Thermaltake Armor Full tower (massively heavy)
Windows XP Pro
Gen 1 Logitech G15 keyboard
Razer Copperhead mouse
MAG Innovision 19" flat screen CRT
OEM Sony Vaio 2.0 speakers

(list is shorter than the mods to the Poopra. lol)

I had a Zalman 9500 HS&F, but that got clogged up with dirt and stopped working, so I'm using the stock HS&F. I know that I do need to manage my wires a whole lot better. I just need to get my hands on a dremel so that I can make some holes in the Mobo tray and route some cables behind the tray, flip the front hard drives around to route the SATA cables behind tray as well while upping to the SATA2 with the 90* connectors. Other than that, it runs Crysis on medium settings.

I bought a case for work that has built-in cable management. It gives you ~4" of space between the back of the MB tray and the rear case door. I have pictures on my other laptop so I'll get those up tomorrow.

Or buy yourself a Lian-Li case. They cost a pretty penny, buy I promise you it'll be the best case you'll ever buy.
