Hi guys/girls
So I'm driving down the road the other day on my way home from work when I see something emerge from under the car in front. By the time I realised what it was (a brick), I'd hit it. Now I'm doing like 70mph at the time and didn't have much time to avoid it. Anyway, there was this gut-wrenching BANG!!! followed by a wobbling of the steering wheel. When I got home, I took the drivers side front wheel off and inspected the damage. Only thing was, there wasn't any! So I put the wheel back on and thought nothing more of it until the following day. Next day I went out in the car with my Girlfirend. Straight away, she started going on about the wobble on the steering wheel and a low frequency "buffetting" noise and said she thought there was something seriously wrong with my car. So I swing by my usual wheel/tyre place and have them check the wheel balancing. He puts the wheel on his machine and hey presto - bent as a £7 note! Had to replace ALL of my wheels there and then! B*llocks! Anyway I settled for some Wolfrace Triads. I've got no pics as yet but I'll post 'em as soon as I have. Rant over! P.S Does anyone fancy buying 3 really good wheels and ever-so-slightly buckled wheel for their Celi???.....thought not This post has been edited by Racer_J: Nov 24, 2008 - 1:23 PM -------------------- |

Post a FS thread in that section on here. I'm sure somebody could use your wheels!
As far as your story goes, that sucks! I mean, hopefully you like the wheels you got and in the end you think it's worth it, but nonetheless, being forced to buy new wheels out of the blue sucks. I've had terrible luck with my tires.. I haven't even had my car 2 years yet and I'm on my third set of tires. The wheels weren't aligned when I got the car, so that finished the first set off in a hurry. The place my parents go to to get new tires and alignments and all that good stuff SUCKS! So they did a half-a**ed job and threw some tires on the car that they knew wouldn't last so we'd have to come right back for another alignment and new tires. And I knew they'd do that before I ever walked out the door, but my parents were paying for it and wouldn't let me argue. Well, the tires lasted 10,000 miles and had wires showing. Keep in mind I never floored it or did any spirited driving whatsoever in those 4 months. So this time my parents listened to me and let me take the car where I wanted for the alignment and put the tires I want on it. I could have gotten some tires that will last longer, but I REALLY wanted some Falken Ziex 512's But these are screwed now too. Another deer jumped out in front of me the other day and I had to slam on my brakes so now I have huge flat spots on my tires. So less than 2 years later, I need new tires again. I feel your pain. But hopefully you like the new rims! Damn dude, that sucks. My dad did the same thing in his GLI, he bent a $500 BBS 18" wheel. Luckily, he got it redone for half of that.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
Bad luck with the tyres, maybe you're going for too soft a compound? If your tracking/alignment is OK and your wheels are properly balanced, you should get plenty of wear out of 'em. I don't hang around when I drive my Celi, that's not to say I thrash the nuts off it either but I get plenty of mileage out of mine (usually well over 12 months.) My new rims look pretty cool to be honest, they're a bit more intricate looking but very nice. I used my existing tyres as they've not been on the car that long so got a good deal on the rims. I could go outside now and get some snaps of 'em but my car's covered in cr*p and I won't take pics of a dirty car!! LOL I'll get some this weekend Watch this space -------------------- |

Yeah, that's exactly the problem lol. The tires I'm getting are too soft. They would be great if I had lots of money to replace them frequently but I don't haha. The tires were replaced at the dealership where I bought it with Kumho Ecsta's. I don't know much about those. They were noisy but seemed to last alright. The place my parents went to replaced the Kumho's with Cooper Zeon's. They lasted 10,000 miles before three were completely bald. The fourth I had to replace after 3,000 miles when a rock punctured the tire. I lived on a gravel road... Anyway, I replaced those with my Falkens and I love them. They are super quiet and get excellent traction, wet or dry. That's not to say that they are the best tires to drive in the rain with though lol. You hit a puddle and you will hydroplane. And I hear winter is terrible for these. But nonetheless, if I hadn't had to lock up my brakes the other day, these would be the best tires I've ever had.
Enough about my tires though. Nobody cares lol. That's awesome that you were able to use your other tires. I haven't looked at your profile, but I did see your signature. What rims are those on your car in your signature? I like them!!! -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. OK guys,
Not the best pic, but here's a shot of my new rims. Soon as I get some decent weather (yeah right) and I can keep my car clean for more than a half hour, I'll get some decent pics but for now, this will have to do. What do you think? No doubt .. these must be nice as well only pics are not as reality sometimes. Is your suspension stock or are you little bit lower ? My celi“s way to low and unfortunately roads in Czech Republic are not friendly to these type of suspension. :-(
I“ve pm“ed you .. -------------------- “95 T20 GT

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Yeah, the new rims look good but I too liked my KTS rims! I think good wheels really make a car unique, make it stand out from the crowd. The wrong wheels though can make a car look cr#p. Just glad I found a good set of rims that suit my car in such a short space of time (like 10 mins) LOL This post has been edited by Racer_J: Dec 6, 2008 - 4:24 AM -------------------- |

^^^ If only the rest of the rest of the world thought like that... Personally, I'm getting kind of sick of seeing old a** Monte Carlo's with expensive paint jobs and 20"+ rims. Just take that money and invest it in a decent car, people... Lol.

Nice pics. How do you make the b/w background and have the color on the car still.

The technique is called colour "popping". You take the background image (in colour), add a desaturation layer, then simply use a black brush tool to select the areas you want to be shown in colour.
Everything on the images is monochrome except for the lights/badges and brakes, which I've picked out using this method. -------------------- |
