LOL get good snow tires; but with the amount of snow you get i'd be iffy hahah make sure you raise the car back up.
This is why I only like to visit Montreal during spring/summer. |

I was lucky enough to visit montreal last week. I left the airport Tuesday during rush hour only to find all the interstates turned into parking lots. that night I went 30km in 4 hours.
I know this has nothing to do with the awd conversation. but I wanted to share. (btw, I rented an awd '09 Volvo C30 and it handled the snow beautifully.) -------------------- '99 Celica GT - Sold

probably because of his tires. Any kind of car with blizzaks will tear up the snow.

It is mandatory to have snow radials in Montreal (Thank God its not for Ontario). That's probably why the C30 handled well + its AWD. -------------------- -Derick

Even just driving a front wheel drive car w/LSD makes a huge difference in the snow. FWD w/LSD and ABS is where it's at for snow driving if you can't get 4WD or AWD.

My ABS is broke; and driving around without LSD sucks... ![]() I miss it, but I'm not ready to pay $400 for a replacement hub assembly just to get the sensor back... ![]() -------------------- |

Trust me FWD with LSD is nothing in the snow, unless you have snow tires mounted on them wheels. Yes it gets me up steep driveways covered with snow starting at a completely stop, but when you're stuck without blizzaks you're screwed.

ABS is the last thing you want in snowy icey conditions as it cuts in too early and gives you no braking power under sliding, my WRC 205 has no ABS so i'm happy and i disconnect the womans Ford Pumas ABS which kills the traction control as well when the conditions get bad as her family lives out the back end of no where and there is hills galore to go up and down, we both prefer it without ABS as it makes life a bit easier.

FWD w/LSD and ABS is where it's at for snow driving if you can't get 4WD or AWD. werd. when i had snow tires on my srt4, it was fun to go tear up the snowy roads of montana. also the fun thing was that you're able to have more fun with the e brake than most awd cars cause you don't have to worry about a center differential. 180 degree turns in a fwd in the snow is always fun, hence the saying Fun Wheel Drive.... ![]() |

The smallest wheels you can fit on are 16`s due to the big discs and calipers.
Offset must be ET35 or less (within reason) although you might get away with an ET38 depending on the spoke design. Width you can pretty much have anything 8.5" or less...you might get away with 9" but you might get some rubbing. I wouldnt go less than 7" wide. The wheels to look out for to run winter tyres on are OZ Chrono`s...very rally style wheels and came as an option on the ST205...look very smart and suit the st205 very well. -------------------- |
