So i'm in the market for a pair of HID's. I would get Culpables but I imagine it'll be a long time before the next group buy goes through. I was wondering if there are brand names to stay away from, including ebay. What are some trustworthy brands at a decent price? Or is an HID an HID and it wont matter? Thanks guys,
Travis

I might get bashed for that but everything on ebay is pretty much the same thing, and you'll find the ballast themselves dont really have brands..they are generic brands.

Best brands would be Hella, Matsu****a, Bosch, Denso, Phillips..etc.

i always heard so many good things about prolumens and when my frd bought them then were almost $200. they ended up sucking and within 1 year of buying, both of them had a ballast that died. and now both of them had another one die except now neither have warranty.

u can always buy a set of rebased bulbs, buy a set of nice oem ballasts/ignitors and a pnp wiring harness from ebay to make it all work

I say just wait for the next GB unless you want to shell out for the expensive brands that Rayme already mentioned.

well in the end, i'm still putting an HID in a halogen housing, so the lighting effect is going to be altered. I don't see what I would gain from buying an expensive as opposed to a cheaper HID.

i'm assuming this site is legit...

Best source on the web I've ever found for lighting information:
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/

This is the specific page on HID, but I'd suggest reading through the entire site. It's well-written, clear and precise without being overly technical.

Just the same as with anything else, you gain quality. I won't touch something from a company that does no R&D. I want something tested and proven before it ever hits the market. Yes, I know I'm asking too much from most things... Lol. If you bought the cheap Ebay kit, your lights wouldn't be as bright and they won't last near as long.
