Does the 6th gen celica have it? My friend explained what it is and people say his Mitsubishi GSX doesn't have it because it is AWD, yet I thought GT4 has it.

I have noticed when I take a corner in 2nd and punch it, it will rev as if it were two step without actually redlining. Bounces around as if there were some type of rev limiter preventing redline. So I dunno. I don't even know the benefit of two step. Unless a car had serious HP, I wouldn't really see a point at launching a car using this "Two Step", as I can hear it in some cars at a starting line, when some of them normally (if drag racing for time on a track) are better off at a lower RPM. Or so I think. I dunno, and you know what? I don't care if I sound like an idiot right now. I am begging to be educated here!

no, our cars dont have it, i dont think any stock car has it.

2 step allows you to floor it, and studders the ignition so that it holds at a preset RPM and builds boost. so that you launch under power instead of waiting for the turbo to spool.

Interesting one this...not quite sure what "2 step" is. confused.gif
What I do know is, a standard GT4 has both boost cut and fuel cut.
These are predefined saftey settings in the ECU.
However, what you can get is a rev limiter which basically cuts the ignition.
See Bee*R Rev Limiter/Power Builder
AFAIK this is used in turbo drag cars to allow turbo spool up (without blowing your engine up) for a better launch.
A tell tale sign that a car has a rev limiter fitted is popping, banging and flames spitting out the back of the exhaust on high revs.

I may of course be completely off the beaten track redface.gif

pressure pretty much nailed it

i have been in cars with 2 step and its nice for bigger turbo cars but its also alot harder on the drive tran

i was going to get it for my 7agte but at that point lost interest in drag racing out at the tracks there 45 min from my house

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

i know a lot of evo and sti guys who have a 2 step set-up..and of course you get your ocasional honda guys...its a set up that msd, or EMS sells that controls how high you rev your car at the line with out you having to contorl it yourself basically. All you have to do is floor it and it will sound like it is redlining, but really it is just controling how high the car will rev, for example in first gear, sitting at the line, you push the clutch in and floor it...its not going to redline and bounce off the rev limiter, it will sit at where ever you set the 2-step at, so at like 3k, 35k, where ever you think is best to launch your car at. Once you release the clutch and launch the car the 2step launch control is elimited so the car will rev like normal. thats the best way i can explain it.these kits can get pretty pricey as well..its good for track use and for people that dont know how to launch there car tongue.gif or people that are just lazy like me

I know a lot of guys that have it in their turbo cars just to show it off and have untrained eyes go "Wow". I gotta admit it never gets old seeing a car two-stepping, even if it's slow like my Celica. tongue.gif

its good for track use and for people that dont know how to launch there car

Well its not that simple...I have launch control and its different to just holding revs.......If I just hold the revs at say 4000/5000rpm there is no load on the engine so I have zero boost so when you want to "GO" you need to build up boost pressure which takes time....obviously when you set off, the revs drop and you have to wait for them to build up to make boost again.

with launch control activated I can make between 0.5 and 0.7 bar boost whilst still standing still (engine under no load) so when I "GO" I already have 0.5bar of boost pressure to work with smile.gif smile.gif smile.gif it is hard on the clutch and diffs though kindasad.gif

Other than the ability to launch...it nice to make loud bangs and spit flames at people who sit like 1" off your rear bumper at lights etc

Dont know about you guys in the states, but Pizza delivery boys ride around on little 50cc mopeds and a favourite pass time of theirs is to hold onto the GT4s spoiler when at lights so that they dont have to put their feet down.....a quick spit of flame and a loud bang or two either scares them enough to make them let go....or they **** themselves and fall over laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

No. What you do it put superglue on your spoiler then drive rall-style. You get a better result that way. laugh.gif

Evo 8 and 9 come with it stock. Its basically a stationary rev limiter set to 5000rpm. Mitsu added it so that people wouldn't ruin the drive train by launching the car at 7grand .
