Anyone know how to install safely the main engine mount next to the belts? if its JUST that mount, it should pretty much drop back into place without much issue, and you just bolt it down. if your installing the motor, i like to install the drivers side tranny mount first, then install the passanger side mount, using the engine hoist to get the engine in place. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

lift the car slightly and put it on jack stands, take a jack and put a block of wood on it and then lift it up to the oil pan. do not put excessive pressure on it, just enough to support it. Then while you're still under the car, using a ratchet with a long extension and a 14mm deep socket, take out the nut that is on the stud that is on the underside of the engine mount, you may need to take off the belt to get at it, you might also be able to get it with a wrench from up top, but it'll be a pain. then, from the top, there are 2 bolts holding it to the frame and one nut which also supports the power steering fluid resevoir. take them all out, it should come out, then put your new one in.

How much leverage would I get to take of the nut from the underside, the longer extension you go, the less leverage you get on the nut, especially that is an engine mount nut and not some regular tightened nut.
Don't wanna strip the nut - would make life a b*** This post has been edited by trdproven: Jan 26, 2009 - 12:31 AM -------------------- 94 Celica GT

I've had to use it more than a few times. lol -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

I haven't had plastic covers under my car for a while so I forgot about them. lol -------------------- 94 GT - Sold -------- 69 Pontiac Lemans - Sold 88 Alltrac - Sold ---- 04 WRX - Sold 00 GT-S - Sold ------ 91 Miata - project/drift car 95 GT - Sold -------- 96 GT - New Daily Drive |

Hey 6strngs,
Can you explain how to change rear mount just like you have for the the one on the passenger side? I have a really big problem puting the crossmember from the back to the front back in. the mount is supposed to go between two crossmembers rite? |
