Old thread... but I have something to add
Conformity is action based upon actions previous... be it your own or others. Non-conformity may only be defined by constant creation... that is, life within the moment - decisions based upon current input and nothing else. Of course now, we cannot possibly live a non-conformist lifestyle and survive, that is the lifestyle of someone who has absolutely no sense of being! Even wild animals conform - they eat, they sleep... they learn - learning is conformity! To use words is to conform... to even conceptualize ANYTHING as the dictionary defines it is conformity. That is... A non conformist would read this post and think whatever he wished... he could believe me to be ordering a large fry with a sprite. |

Old topic (I think), but I got into this with someone. I believe conforming is necessary for a steady flow of progress. Take the law for instance, when we abide by it, we are safe. When one goes outside the law, there is chaos. Imagine if street light colors where different on every block, had different shapes, and were in a different position, all because someone did want to conform to the way the rest of other parts do it, and this day and age we have people who travel all the time. Imagine the accidents due to not conforming. People want to be regarded as an individual, and yes, it has its rewards to do such, however, it is the majority of people that conform to the rest of the world that keeps it together. When people try to be different or strange, they then complain when the rest of the world hasn't adjusted to them or will not accept it. Then we have to amend our ways to satisfy the non-conforming INDIVIDUALS, until they become "normal", and then another groups rises to the occasion to rebel. That's how I see, now that I am older than that crazy lil kid I was back in the day who wanted to be so different from everyone else.

hahah i jsut did the same thing for my english college paper in which i got an A on.
anyways to survive conformity is neccessary, but too much and ur just a puppet to society. that is why the ability to think critically is needed such like MLK. No matter how much we may think we are "different" we all are conformed. to be honest, theres no real big issue in conformity and non conformity, because u have to accept the fact that everyone conforms in the end to survive and live. but at the same time u cant be conformed so much in the fact that ure just brainwashed by the media and public thinking that is all right. even with religion, u have to truly explore ur religion. BECAUSE i GUARENTEE about to 98% of u, for example 6gc christians, if u were born in Iran with Iranian parents U WOULD 99.9% NOT be CHRISTIAN. crazy things like that, u have to think......im good at these topics but not cars... |

On that note, I can care less about what the religion is about, so long as it allows me to acknowledge God or A-God, then I am cool with it. To me "Christian" is only meaning you are a person who has or wants a relationship with a higher power. Even if that higher power is Earth or Nature itself, there is to me a force that governs all. Even the most intelligent of human beings who believe in Logic has to accept there is no such things as a coincidence, as all things happen within reason, correct? -------------------- 91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204
