I always wanted a switch to do that to my dials....but on my GT4 its a fog light switch....and on pretty much every other GT4 I have been in / worked on / seen its either a fog light switch, a boost controller switch or a blank......it must be an option from dealers as thats the first time I have seen a dial dimmer switch on a GT4.
Maybe only an option on Australian GT4s This post has been edited by Nial: Mar 15, 2009 - 3:01 PM -------------------- |

Hey guys. I am pretty excited to have a GT-FOUR. Finally the 15 year rule hit here in Canada for legal importing of ST205's! I have to thank Sean at Zen Autoworks for helping me get my dream car! He is a great guy and I would highly recommend talking to him if you are seriously thinking of importing a car to Canada.
As for all of you wondering how much it cost, well that is between me and Sean. The cost is definately much more than a ST204 would run you since this is a mint car. It's ST205 WRC with ~60,000 kilometers on it and is extremely clean. To me though the cost was cheap when you compare it to any new vehicle on the market these days and when it's my dream car and I would pick this over anything new. As for that switch it doesn't control the fog lights as those are on the stalk with the headlights. It may be a dimmer for the interior lights, I will have to look into that and see. Thanks everyone for your comments. I guess we will have to see how many viewings and rides it will take for Jeremey (KAOS) to lose his school girl laugh! I also posted a few more pictures in the multimedia section. This post has been edited by WALKER: Mar 16, 2009 - 10:19 AM -------------------- |

For those of you that don't know, I ran into this when I had my first JDM and I was going crazy looking for a dial to turn up the brightness of the dash.
JDM Celicas (I've had 3 of them including my GT-Four) do not have anything installed in that place, it's a blank circle, they don't come with dash dimmers. The backlight on the dash only has 2 modes, on or off. Cuts_the_pilot's GT-Four WRC is an export model (Australian version) and has the same dash dimmer that comes in USDM Celicas, also notice his manual aircon in his other pics. A common thing to be installed in that place is a switch to short the hand brake circuit on the DVD head unit when an LCD is installed as it only displays when the handbrake is up as a safety standard. But since it is a turbo car, it's most likely to be something to do with boost. -------------------- Mike W

You & I both know that the GT-Four is my/our dream car, every since Gran Turismo on the Playstation I've wanted one... Dave; I had a dream that the unknown switch forced the car to transform into a robot. Thats right; I dream about your car too... yep everything you all have summerised is correct.
the switch is indeed a dash backlight dimmer, all aus delivery 205's have them, and infact all aus delivery celicas for that matter, right back to the ta's and ra's. yes we also all have manual air con (which is fine by me, doesnt look as cool as climate control tho), again all aus delivery celicas have manual air con including 7th gens. and yes thats a boost controller where the clock once was. anywho back on topic. Sweet asGT-Four man. -------------------- ST205 Group A Rallye GT-Four, #61 of 77............600hp GT3582r

Sorry pal but i live in Quebec and saw 5 already Oh Yea? Are you sure they're genuine GT-Fours and not just converted? I've noticed that in prior years most engines/clips for sale in Canada are from Quebec... -------------------- |

There's an importer in Campbell River on the island who has 3 GT-Fours, none are labeled WRC though. (still, I wonder if they accept trades )

KAOS .... that video put a smile on my face (after I got over the motion sickness)
The switch on the dash .... WALKER, we'll have to trace the wires back. The original JDM GT-Fours just have a blank in place of the dimmer, yes. As there were only a handful of WRC models with a Feb build, it is unlikely there are 5 running around Quebec .... but not entirely impossible. Nothing has shown up on the boards yet as far as new Canadian ST205 owners. -------------------- www.ZenAutoworks.ca .. JDM and Euro import cars / parts direct from Japan

Sorry pal but i live in Quebec and saw 5 already Oh Yea? Are you sure they're genuine GT-Fours and not just converted? I've noticed that in prior years most engines/clips for sale in Canada are from Quebec... 1 was a conversion and was up for sale in late october (2008) but all the others were genuine... i saw one at my college and 2 at a local JDM dealer (yes, i checked the firewall, dont worry i'm not a fool ) + the one that i might buy when i'll get my tax check back Here's an example http://forums.montrealracing.com/voitures-...st-arrived.html and one who's sold http://forums.montrealracing.com/voitures-...u-sold-out.html Quebec doesn't count. Just like all those contests that exclude quebec. Do you even know why? It's to prevent scams... you have to register your contest at the "Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux" which belongs to the gov. and if you don't, your contest is illegal. That's the reason why some constests exclude Quebec, because either they are scams, or because they don't wanna pay the rights.
