Noticed it last week, progressed to a head just now when my wife got home. Last week when I'd get home I'd hear some gurgling coming from the cooling system. Last night when my wife got home it was steaming out of the vent in the overflow resevoir. Today she just parked in the driveway and there's a huge puddle of boiling coolant under the car that's coming from that overflow resevoir vent.
The car is NOT overheating. It's running fine. So that kind of rules out the thermostat as if it was stuck closed there'd be obvious indicators. No leaks or cracks noted. Oil is fine in color as is coolant. Thoughts? -------------------- |

anything change in your intercooler setup to block air flow to the radiator?

Nope. Nothing there was changed. I did find last night that the spring loaded center section of the radiator cap is broken/not attached, but I didn't think that would cause it as the cap still seems to seal. Heading out for a new on momentarily.

That could be the problem.
That spring is what keeps the cooling system pressurized and controls overflow. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

That could be the problem. That spring is what keeps the cooling system pressurized and controls overflow. We'll see. I got the new cap on and idled it while I sprayed the engine bay down (dang sanding dust), and it didn't act funny. Tomorrow will tell though as I'm taking the car to work. -------------------- |

Follow-up -- New cap seems to have fixed the problem. There was no out of normal things going on when I got to work this morning.

Sad part is that I had it off the previous night, noticed it, and didn't even think about it. Got what I got for that one, a nice puddle of coolant on the driveway. Glad I got it fixed though. She's sitting in the base car show this afternoon (hoping to win the modified class). -------------------- |

Was the cap. No boiling when I got home a while ago and it was freaking HOT out. Thanks for the backup on that guys.
Oh, and it took "Best Modified -- Car" in the show. Small base show, but heck, it's a start. Stiffest competition was an AMAZING 70 Chevelle SS w/a 509 big block that was extremely clean. -------------------- |
