Hi there,

any help with this problem would be very much appreciated.

My celica sr just won't start! the strangest part is about 3 hour prior the car was working perfectly!
I put my key in and first and second click work fine (all dash lights come on, radio and clock working) the when i go to the 3rd click to turn the engine over the whole car cuts out and disconnects from all electrics, then had to wait for it to come back and same problem again. so thought maybe battery had died so went for jump start which brought the electrics back but once again when i go to start the engine just totally cuts out. when it cuts out everything goes, ive tried all 3 keys i have and the same problem for all 3! im totally lost. ive currently disconnected the battery hoping it might reset the immobilising system.

any help would be great thanks,

nathan

Sounds like a short somewhere, or something is seriouslly draining the electrical system.

Check all fuses first, see if any are popped.

Its all about surface area on the battery terminal, if its lose and been arcing over onto the post, there is going to be carbon build up. You'll need to clean the connection and the post with a wire brush. Had this happen one time one a stratus when I forgot to tighter it back up biggrin.gif

check if your starter is getting a power signal from the ignition while trying to start the car. if there's no power maybe your ignition barrel is broken. if there is, check your starter connections, but if it's all good, replace your starter.
