I know that GT-4 hood doesn't fit precise for GT but does anyone have pics how it fits? There will be some "inch gap" somewhere I have heard...

At the front there will be an inch gap because the ST205 front bumper is actually taller in the middle.

reviving this thread...

IMO it doesnt look too bad with the gap. Im planning to get one too.

Can someone photoshop the images above to super white? I know its the same thing but I wanna see the color.

BTW, correct me if Im wrong, so the stock hood latch WOULDNT work with the stock bumper and gt-4 hood?

the stock hood latch will still work. however the safety hook is too short. if you pull on the hood release handle, the hood won't even pop up. this gets risky because you won't be able to differentiate between a properly closed hood, and a hood that is being held by the safety hook alone. you might have your hood fly open on the freeway if the hood isn't properly closed.

when i close my hood, i usually just drop it.

mine has still a lil damage from the deer hit. it happened to me but the safety latch was there so i pulled over and closed it good.

the way i double check it is the hood release, i try to slightly pull it to feel the tension on the latch, it feels different when its not properly closed

It's the GT4 curse - look it up. It's happened to at least a dozen or so members on here over the years. You gotta double check every time with the NA hood latch

it happened to me too only because it was winter and the latch was so stiff that when i pushed down to close the hood, i thought it was properly latched but instead the hood striker was just clamped between the latch but not locked all the way down. so it opened up when i was going about 43mph. it cost me $200 cdn to get a brand new gt4 hood, repair the hood hinges and fenders, and paint. luckily my windshield didn't crack when it happened. i lived with the nasty dent for 6 months before i got it fixed.

also with the gt4 hood you can't just drop it because it's very light. you have to push on it to close.

I just drop mine ALL THE TIME

Toyota didn't desing a hood to be gently pushed down people. It's just a hood, it's fancy for us because we didn't get it in the states, but if we did, I bet people wouldn't be so picky about it.

You do need the modified hood latch, or try to get your hands on a LHD GT4 hood latch ( like I have )

i have a normal gt bonnet catch and it works fine you only need the longer catch if you fit the gt4 bumper.

nope water just runs off, just like when you wash the engine, a short drive soon dries it out.
