you can run lowering springs on your stock struts. Depending on how low you go will increase the wear out speed of them.

Factory struts will probably be fine for a while unless they're already worn, then you should just replace them all at once to save the hassle of doing it twice. KYB struts are pretty cheap OEM replacements, you can order front and rear for not much more than $200.

Or you'll prolly have enough $$$ for coils -------------------- I don't normally drive fast, but when I do its on a curvy section of this island

KYB struts/shocks ARE oem.
Just hold off on installing until you have an extra $225ish for the KYB stuff, that way you're not doing two uninstallations and two reinstallations. -------------------- 1991 MR2 - T-tops - Crimson Red - Gen3 3SGTE - Lots of money

KYB struts/shocks ARE oem. Just hold off on installing until you have an extra $225ish for the KYB stuff, that way you're not doing two uninstallations and two reinstallations. The KYB GR2's area also warrantied to be lowered up to an inch and a half, so there's a little bit of a safety net there. Otherwise, all I can say is what has already been said, that you CAN put lowering springs on factory struts, but they'll wear out a lot sooner. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates. Factory shocks don't last much past 60,000mi. (as i have read..)
More than likely your old shocks are due for replacement anyway, and if you put lowering springs on them you are gonna notice that you need new ones pretty soon. so.. KYB struts/shocks ARE oem. Just hold off on installing until you have an extra $225ish for the KYB stuff, that way you're not doing two uninstallations and two reinstallations. x2. There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. I dunno if kybs are OEM because I've had both and they are not the same. looks and size. I measured inside out a toyota strut mount and kyb and they are totally different, in fact they are thicker. When I put one KYB mount only in one side it raised one fender significantly higher. I used a tape measure and indeed they are different. Perhaps there is a chance that KYB is making the new ones as OEM because Toyota's new strut mounts look like KYB but for sure the original toyota mounts are indeed totally different from KYB mounts. They are OEM replacements thats for sure but thats the same as saying aftermarket.

most likely not very long. if they are original then running a 2 inch drop will probably kill them pretty quickly.

Not to hijack...but what's the quality like on those springs? I'm not looking for utmost comfort, so if they hold up nicely it's a good deal for half the price of Teins...
