While I was at work yesterday a teal colored 6th gen pulls into my work and the the 40+ year old guy and this hot 30 something woman step out and look over my car. So seeing that they are celica fans I go out and talk to him. His celica is just a summer car and he was thinking about selling it soon. Here's what he had and tell me how much you think YOU would pay for it.

1995 Celica GT
Leather
Sunroof
5 Spd
8 speaker sound option
Cd Player W/stock equilizer
58k original miles
No rust

Seriously this car was clean, the headlights were still crystal clean and the stock alloys were still as nice as they were when the car was bought new. I gave him my # and told him he has to call me first when he decides to sell it. What would you pay for this mint beauty?

I think up to 7k would be reasonable too since 6th gens are getting harder to find and that's VERY low miles. If everything mechanical checks out, then 6-7k most.

I am going to say 6k because the Celica was a beautiful car that was overly priced when it came out. We are talking roughly $24k and this was back then. Other than looks and reliability, it didn't have speed or power. So regardless of what the KBB says, and considering this man was probably the original owner, I would say $6k is all he is going to be able to get at the most for this. Because if you wanted, you can get other Toyotas that are faster and more treasured for $7k+, heck, even a Toyota MR2 Turbo you can build up for $4-6k. So just think about it.

Thanks for the input everyone. How rare is the 8 speaker option though?

Not bashing anyone that has one, but teal is really the only weird factory color...the rest are pretty beautiful.

But I would agree with 6-7k...mileage is important, but it's still a 14 year old car.

I had that teal color, it was brilliant in person - pictures don't do it justice, it has a metallic flecking in it that just makes it look amazing.

I would say the same as everyone else, 6-7k - considering it only has 54k miles though...how long has it been sitting/how often has it been driven?

The guy drives it only in the summers and garages it in the winter. He said he'd call me when he decides to sell it (which he said was possibly soon) so it could be this year or maybe never. I know that it will be hard letting mine go even if its for another 6th gen

I hate teal in pictures, but in person it's a gorgeous color that really stands out. I think $6K is reasonable.

Tell him you'll have your mechanic and if everything checks out that you'll give him $4,000 cash, and negotiate from there.

The listed price on my Celica was $4,850 and I got it for $3,000.

depends on the engine, not sure what a 1995 GT has in the US it would be a 3S-GE in the UK,

maybe around £2.5K if it is a minter, which is about $4.1K but thats the market here atm

I'm surprised that Celicas are so cheap in England, don't ST205's go for as low as 4 digits?

you can buy a decent GT4 for around £5k ($8.3k) but then you have the insurance cost and fuel prices to pay in the UK so its still probably cheaper to won one in the US after the first year of ownership

I don't know how rare the 8-speaker option is in the US, but up north here, you see it fairly often. We had our 403 Celica meet last year and only 1 car didn't have it!

If someone offered me $4k for my car, that would feel like a slap in the face.

The 8 speakers option shouldn't be a huge selling point (even though to us 6ger's it is the sweetest thing ever). But the low mileage is very attractive. I think you should go for at least 500 below how much you think it's worth.

I'm sure if you don't boost heavily, they'll still be pretty decent on mileage? Unfortunately, insurance is probably another thing. kindasad.gif

I'm not sure exactly what the difference is between the countries, but I wouldn't own one in GB anyway, only Switzerland or possibly Holland.

i was thinking the same thing. Head units and speakers are the first thing people mod.

about the price of the 6gc. 6k at the most. No matter the mileage, your still exposing rubber seals to heat. So even though the car will still have less then 60k when it gets to 20 years old. It will have oil leaks and require a rebuild.
