hmm so who stuck that into my head that you needed the beams clutser gauge in order to have the speedometer and rpm gauge working. oh well im glad i found out that you dont need it when doing the swap. thanks for clearing that up Scott. smile.gif whats the point of even having the beams cluster if it wont fit in our usdm celica?? i mean we do have 6th gen celica, the same as the ss-III? confused.gif

Did you just like the white background on the gas and tempature meter??

I just love the way your celica looks, and of course great job on the swap!! bowdown.gif

how much money have you put into your car so fa??

""why didnt you just swap over the white rpm gauge to the st204 housing. Did you just like the white background on the gas and tempature meter?? ""

I did. I guess I wasn't clear about my explanation. I am using the st204 housing. THe beams RPM tach is required in order for the gauge to work. If you use your original ST204 tach (RPM) then it will not work in the st204 housing for the Beams. I guess you can order the beams rpm tach by itself alone.

Well I have an exterior mod/addition for the front gT4 bumper coming soon -- and gonna change out the fog lights to a better looking one. Will update soon with pictures. It should look pretty cool.

"how much money have you put into your car so fa??"

Over 10K now. I stopped counting after that.

QUOTE (2bcelica @ Jul 16, 2009 - 8:34 PM) *
Just a little update.

Got all the parts I needed, and had some time to work on it. Then I found out I received the wrong timing belt - I ordered the right part according to the receipt, but the actual part had a different part number, so I had to reorder. Installed the water pump, thermostat, AC condenser, clutch set. (All toyota parts from 1sttoyotaparts.com, and shoptrd.com)

I hope this weekend I'll have time to start removing the 5SFE, clean the bay. Oh I also purhcased an exhaust system that I hope will get me some good results. As slow as I'm getting things done, I'm glad its coming along. I hope to get some pictures up this weekend. I'm also in the market for a new suspension setup because the Tein SS coilovers sucks over bad roads. (once i find what I'm looking for - the Tein SS will be for sale) I just need something more comfortable but still able to keep my ride low.

Parts replaced

1) Timing belt, V belt
2) thermostat
3) Clutch set
4) Water Pump
5) Spark Plugs
6) Alternator
7) TRD short shifter (coming soon - will order)

QUOTE (njccmd2002 @ Jul 17, 2009 - 12:22 AM) *
can you list so far the part numbers

The beams part numbers don't show up in the US parts database, what part numbers did you end up using?

i guess some dealers are able to order from the jdm catalogue. also there was a whole discussion about certain parts being interchangeable with models in the us. in the mr2 beams forum, otherwise Mandalay (beams forum) can get them from aussie. This is the deal killer for the beams engine. Parts.... thumbsdown.gif

Actually this is what I have been able to find out so far...

These things I'm about 99% sure will work and are available:
SS3 clutch disc #31250-20333 is available
Throwout bearing for the 5S S54 #31230-32060
Flywheel and pressure plate for the ST185 should work
SS3 ignition wires are available #90919-21577
SS3 thermostat is available, same as a land cruiser #90916-03100
rear main seal is available, same as the 185 #90080-31073
cam seals are available, same as crank seals for tercel and paseo #90311-35040 and #90311-35035
drive belts cam be matched up pretty easily, its been said the ones for the 5S are the same, I haven't checked yet

These I am not sure about from experience but I've read others have:
timing belt is supposedly the same for the 205 and is available #13568-79105
Idler pulley for the 205 should work and is available, same for an 87-89 camry #13503-63011
waterpump for the 185 should work just fine and is available #16100-79126

These things are not available in the US but I'm pretty sure I can match them up to something or find something that works:
hydraulic timing belt tensioner #13540-88561
tensioner #2 #13505-88560
valve cover gaskets #11213-88560 and #11214088560

So no deal breaker for me, I'll get what I need however I have to get it, it's too late to turn back now anyway wink.gif
I was just wondering where 2bcelica got his stuff and what part numbers he used and if he knows something I don't about what will and will not work.

This link should help you with your part search Beams Redtop Parts List. I ordered my parts from shoptrd.com or 1sttoyotaparts.com -- THe only thing I was not able to order was the timing belt and flywheel from those sites. I instead resurface the flywheel, and ordered tthe C-One timing belt for the beams. Or you can have Mandalay at mr2.com/beams order the factory timing belt and he'll ship it to you. I don't think st205 timing belt will work because beams timing belt is vvti specific.

Any other part numbers needed can be obtained from ToyoDIY 3SGE ToyoDIY some of the part numbers on toyoDIY will be superseded on 1sttoyotaparts.com, but it'll be the same item. Part numbers gets replaced over the years. Hope this help anwer your question. Let me know if I can answer any other

Yeah I've done all that already, I was using Connicelli and Toyota World but I just tried 1sttoyotaparts and it still comes up as no parts found. What part numbers did you order? I'm most concerned about the waterpump but if you could list all the part numbers you ordered that would be nice.

3125020252 - Clutch Disc

That's just a regular Camry clutch disc, if you look up the Beams disc it is available #31250-20333, why not use that?

Also, did you not replace any of the tensioners or idler pulleys?

You're right - 31250-20333 is the right one. I copied and past the wrong one thats all, but after double checking my order receipt through 1sttoyotaparts, that is the right one. Thanks for the correction I did not replace any of the pulleys becase they were still in very good condition.

Hey Hurley, im glad to hear that you're interesting in the redtop. finally more and more members are getting 3sge redtops biggrin.gif To show off the true power of the n/a celica!!! and leave those honda's in the dust...
