Anyone running one of these with an aftermarket radiator?
I have the standard radiator at the moment but looking to replace it (because of a crack in the top plastic) with a full aluminum unit. Sometimes when boosting on the open road when its a cold night, my car is accelerating so fast that my gauge drops from half way to just a quarter meaning my radiator is getting some serious ram air. surely this cant be good for the car? when i go back to cruising at a constant speed the needle goes back up to half way. I'm sure the upgraded radiator will also intensify this, Would the TRD thermostat be beneficial or detrimental in this circumstance? With the stock cooling system the needle has never gone over half way even when boosting on a hot day.. -------------------- Mike W

I used TRD one on my 7AFTE and now have it ready to install for 3SGTE as well... I believe it worth the money.

I've got the TRD low temp t-stat but i've yet to get the car running so... lol yea i'll tell ya when its good? I will clarify a thing, on stock ECU you lose power at stock boost level installing this, engine will be running richer/safer On a standalone system, you can use all the advantages out of having colder water. It sounds like your gauge coolant temp sensor is going bad. I had the same thing happen, and it was fixed with a new sensor. is there any advantage over the trd thermostat or any other high priced brand thermostat vs the 2 170 degree ones at autozone

I was used a TRD low temp thermostat (I think 72C) in north Greece on 3sgte engine. The engine temperature at the commander was 80 – 84C. Now I have changed it with a stock (genuine) one to try it. The engines temp is 88 – 92C. So I will change the stock thermostat again with the TRD. I have reinstalled the TRD thermostat to my car.
