*Major Update*

Well guys as far as the engine goes.. im done!! lol everything is hooked up where it should be. heres a pic

BUT.. frown.gif as far as the whole swap process, still incomplete.. You see yesterday I had thought my clutch and transmission was fine.. so when I attempted to drive it home.. it didnt move 1 inch. From what I can tell, It seems as though I can shift, but the clutch is not engaging. Im using Tweak's hybrid competition clutch for the 5S tranny. Has this happened to anyone? I can hear the gears shifting.. but for reason its not engaging..(Yes I bled the slave cylinder.. 2 times actually) Anyone have any ideas to why this is happening? Im going back to the shop to remove the clutch and check it out.. any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is there an oil leak? Oil on the clutch? I installed Tweeks clutch and flywheel and have been running great.

yea.. but not much though when we checked the transmisison saturday it was completely empty, and I know I had started the car before that and tried to shift.. So I pressumed the tranny was dead.. i read somewhere that if you try and shift into gear with a transmission that has no fluid it will die. So when we saw there was no fluid.. we pumped some in there and tried to shift again.. and no luck.. but we did hear grinding noise so now im thinking something may have popped out from the clutch

you dont NEED fluid in the trans for it to ingage...its recomended but it will not blow your trans up trying to shift into gear with no fluid in it..it has to be something else

I didn't read this whole thread so I'm not 100% sure what the bickering is all about but you definitely need to respect Lagos. He knows what he's talking about.

I saw in another post that you said the speedo would move when you reved in gear but the car wouldn't move... If the Speedo is going from 0-20 or so while in first gear as you rev it the only possibility is that one of your axles isn't engaged in the differential. That would seem to support the issue with the leaking fluid as well and could cause the grinding noise you're hearing. This is easier to check than pulling the trans off to check the clutch so start there.

thanks for the heads up man, yea I definitely respect the man.. my issue was that i WAS uncertain if he knew things about the 3rd gen motor.. that has been cleared up now.. he told me hes worked on the 3rd gen motors before so that's not an issue.. I don't know about him but I do respect what he has to say.. I don't ever recall me disrespecting him

Where did you get the tranny? What car did it come out of? How many miles are on it. How did the your axles look when you installed them?
Do the shift cables look correct?

If you're using the gt trans you need gt axles. It sounds like there may be a problem with your carrier bearing and bracket location as that is the only thing that holds the passenger side axle in place. There is no snap ring like on the drivers side. Post some pics of the passenger side axle setup.

well I guess Ill update this thread since there has been some changes:

Im keeping my car!! lol biggrin.gif

will be buying another 5sfe tranny from a member of this site shortly.. and will have that installed along with a new passenger side axle.. hopefully when those 2 things are installed it will be drivable again.. still dont have an idea why my car sputters out and dies when the car is warm though.. hopefully I can figure that out soon..

another update when the tranny and axle is installed.
