^ Which is why I've never parked between cars. I've been lucky to find a spot on the end of a row each day. And then I hug the curb to where I'd almost damage my rims...I HATE door dings.

Likewise. The good thing though is that were I park (the middle of no where at the end of the parking lot), is where other nice cars park who park there for similar reasons (don't want to be turned into a door ding fest). So even if someone parks on top of me, the chances for a ding as significantly less than out there in the main lot.

One more good reason about not being on campus anymore. I do NOT miss that haha. laugh.gif

Well, I go to a relatively small school, so it's not really a problem. Mondays are busy and I usually drive around for 5-10 minutes in an effort to find a spot. Wednesdays are better and NOBODY is there on fridays. It's good that you have like-minded people that park by you. I haven't gotten a door ding since high school, because I always parked in my assigned spot and the people around didn't really give a **** about their cars. mad.gif Same with any public parking space, mall, grocery store, movies, etc. I park FAR away.

Yep, I don't care if I have to walk the whole parking lot at a place like Best Buy. I part at the very end of the lot, against the curb that's on the end spot with the tree haha.

Yea, I am blessed to be around others who care about their cars. I had the same assigned lot crap in high school. Unfortunately it was a "rich" district, and my Beetle was literally surrounded by a Hummer to my left, an Escalade on my right, and a Navigator in front. While these are nice cars (absurdly nice for their age if you ask me......), they obviously didn't have to pay for them, and treated them like replaceable objects.

One day I came out to my car, and the Navigator's bumper was touching my front, and the Hummer parked so crooked and close to me that I couldn't back my car out. I had to deal with that every day.

You know when you have an 02' Beetle that was brand new when you bought it (paid with my own money I saved from childhood, unlike these guys) and my car was considered the "junk car", you have problems.

Exactly, I do the same thing. Maybe not completely in the back, but definitely where there are no cars in the vicinity.

I completely understand. Even though my car was given to me, I'm hugely grateful for that and I respect my vehicle. I can't stand people that take it for granted and indeed treat them like disposable objects.

But that raises a question...why a Beetle? laugh.gif

I ask that myself many times... it was just a car that I always loved growing up, and when the New Beetle came out I had to have it.

After owning it though, besides being a tank in the snow, I can say it had absolutely no redeeming qualities. Poor build quality, poor service, VERY poor gas mileage (my Celica is almost double), ect. The paint had already started fading to a faded tomato red after only having it for 5 years, the interior door handles deteriorated like pencil eraser dust (and felt equally as disgusting), the rotors went, the exhaust fell off, the engine crapped out, the cd player fried itself, the hubcaps had a habit of flying off even when installed properly lol, the igniter failed, the brake sensor failed (which caused problems with the shifter obviously) and I had the year that they changed the engine. Unfortunately for me, the first half of 02 Beetles had a faulty one that took 2 quarts of oil about every 4-5 fill ups of gas. I kid you not. The service shop knew this was a major problem, but the car was never recalled.

Oh.. and on top of that, they have horrible resale. I only got 5k for it... a car I bought only 5 years before in which I only put 35,000 miles on it. I paid 19.5k. Yea....

Say what you want about it, but I freakin love my Prius.. especially after owning that POS. laugh.gif

I guess thats the glory with my 89 throwback Nissan Sentra.

Its already a peice of crap and damnit I can park anywhere I want without worrying about door dings, it has countless already. I can park in the handicap space if I want, no one would care (they would and I don't, it was a metaphor please don't get offended)

Its glorious from the front, hows it hanging in the back?

Wow, I'm actually surprised...VW builds good cars. Maybe they just sabotaged the Beetle on purpose? laugh.gif My brother has an 03 Jetta, got it brand new and now has about 105,000 hard miles...that car has a rough life. He treats it pretty much like a beater, you can usually find a mountain of trash in the back seat. It's seen a washing maybe five times in its life. Basically, he's just rough on it. It looks like crap on the outside (partly because, whilst inebriated, he tried to get bird poop off the roof with steel wool rolleyes.gif), but it's still a pretty solid vehicle. No problems with the engine, the clutch is still original, and the interior still doesn't have many creaks or rattles. That resale value is CRAZY though...I think I could get a little less than that for my Celica.

Jeez, is it a Prius that is delivering it? Or a Celica ST? (just kidding, guys tongue.gif)

I remember reading this topic a while ago when you ordered the flaps. Seems like they should be there tongue.gif

Is there a tracking #?

The problem is that the company didn't really have any of them in stock, even though they said they did. Basically, their lovely business tactic is to wait until someone orders them, and then go buy them from their vendor. Nice, huh?

So not only have I had to wait for them to be shipped to their company, but I'm also waiting for them to be shipped to me. They said 5-10 days to get here, and I think I'm at 5 or past it. It's a headache...

you could always go with the ikea mudflaps until they get there. that way you would be super cool like me.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/90131935

i've had mine on for over a year and they've taken a beating. only one broke when i was in utah on my way back from montana. it was only -10 out and i tried knocking off ice and a corner just snapped off. guess any plastic mudflap might have suffered the same fate. replaced that one and i've run a full season of rally cross and screwing around out in the desert as well. not bad for $5 to get all 4 corners.

I have emailed the company two times this week. Each time they assure me they'll call THEIR supplier and let me know the next day. Yea.. uh, not the case thus far....

Trust me, I'm growing just as impatient about it as you are lol. I understand I'm ordering something from Britain, but I have gotten something from Vincent in that amount of time AND ordered more from him. I bet both batches will come here before the mudflaps do haha.

I'll let you know as soon as I do, promise smile.gif. Thanks for keeping the interest.
