Sup fellow 6G enthusiests, i need help.
My project is this: I have a 94 st and I would love to fix it. My car has tons of milage, dents and dings and scratches all over the place and even
a knocking sound that seems to come from the top of the engine. I dont really mind the blemishes, but the knocking sound is what drives me crazy.

Anyways, what i want to do is swap my old engine out, for this other one i got from my old job when i was a parts delivery guy.
Now i have a 5s-fe sitting on blocks, and i want to give it a home under my hood.
Can anyone tell me what, if anything, i can carry over from my 1.8 to my 2.2 (i.e.- transmission?)? plus im on a budget.. . . any tips, advise, or info would
be appreciated.

Thanks Fellas!

nothing bro... its all start from scratch, a fair bit i might add

i hope you have a trans/wiring harness/ecu for the 5s-fe else your far from your goal smile.gif

you also need to get 5s motor mount and relocate it (7a-fe is different) I believe the side mounts

I thought you only needed to add one mount which already has its placement marked, just needs to be drilled. I believe the other 2 were fine.

All the other stuff yea...its a bit.

i can get the trans for cheap, the mounts are cheap too i believe. but the wire harness might be my biggest (maybe expensive) obstacle. plus the ecu. . . can i use or add an after market component to my already existing one??? a buddy told me, something about an attachment that goes with my ecu just to control the air and fuel mix. . . is this true???
i thought i would find most of my solutions at a junk, or salvage yard of something, what do you think?

2.2 anyone?

you still need a Proper fully functioning 5s-fe Wiring harness and ECU or substitute the ECU with a EMS sysem which will cost u ALOT of money.

FIC or SAFC is the unit your talking about, controls AFR's thru the o2 sensor, do not work as your ECU.
you need to make sure the wiring harness/ecu you pick up is for a 94-95 Celica. a Camry 5s-fe harness will not work, neither will a 96-99.
your car is a 94, you need to stick with OBD1 or else you might have to do some public handouts to avoid registration/aircare issues

I was thinking about doing the same. For $800 I could get the 5s complete swap with tranny, harness, and ecu. Thinking about going this route but I don't know yet. I'd be happy with 280 to the wheels so I don't know.

What do you guys think, I think it's not bad since its a faster motor and its suppose to have 35-60k miles on it compared to my 7a woth 160k.

280 at the wheels?! On a 5s? Huh? You're not getting that just from a swap, that's for damn sure.

so would this be a smart move , yes or nay?
$800 for a 5s,trans, ecu, and harness isn't all that bad well from my point of view.

Why do this? Well for me I think it wouldn't be a bad idea since there's a 5s everywhere here so if something brakes I could find a replacment easy. Aftermarket support is a bit better then a 7a and turbo would be so much easier on that then the 7a as well. And last but not least I'm not looking for a full powerhouse as of now, so I would be happy as I stated before with 280fwhp, and I could easily reach that goal with the 5s+turbo.
