Anyone have any complaints on the eibach sportline spring set?
Ive been reading reviews from many websites many on different cars about always bottoming out on speed bumps, and trying to avoid bumpy roads. I like the look of the sportlines but does anyone on here that has them notice a bad ride quality or any problems for everyday use?? Also is kyb gr2 front and rear struts my best bet or are there other choices because on one review the guy said he blew those at about 10,000 miles with the sportlines??? many people on here have this setup, so i was wondering if this would be a good purchase for my car for lowering it. And of the people that have this setup how many miles have you run on them without any problems? I have had the Sportlines on my car. They gave a very comfortable ride and I never bottomed out. They were doing a lot of roadwork here when I was lowered, so I'm shocked that I never bottomed out, but I didn't. The KYB GR-2's are warrantied to be lowered up to an inch and a half, which is how low the Sportlines go on our cars. So if your struts blow, you get new ones. You can't go wrong with that setup.

No, he doesn't have them installed anymore.
I wish I could show you what mine looks like...but I don't have it installed yet. I haven't heard anything about bottoming out, to answer your question. I haven't heard anything bad about Sportline springs at all, for that matter. SwissFerdi hit the nail on the head. I only got like 3 pictures of my car when it was lowered, because I only had it lowered for about a month. Plus that was the dirtiest my car has ever been when I got those pictures, so I don't show them to anyone. Ever. Lol. I sold them because I didn't have a job and I was broke as crap. My car actually looks like it's sitting higher in that picture than what it really does because of how the weight is sitting. The weight of the front end is on the driver's side tire, so the wheel gap on the passenger side is bad. Sportlines and KYB, you can't go wrong with that setup.

I just put that setup on my car a couple days ago. I'll try to get some pictures up tomorrow or the next day. I think if I were to do it over again I would have gotten the proline with only a 1 inch drop. I guess I say that just because I'm nervous, it really isn't that low with 17" rims. I haven't bottomed out either. The ride is so much better than the blown struts that were on there.

I am also looking at the megans because there 100 bucks cheaper and they are a 2 inch drop not a 1.5. but they are not on the parts list on the site here does that mean they are not that good?
Its a toss up for me on which ones to get. the megans or the eibachs. I will be using them with the 17 mb fivex wheels from discount tire. Ive got a goal to get this stuff done by the summer. I actually found a guy on here using the five x wheels...... http://www.6gc.net/members/10236 thats the look im goin for hes using the megan springs.... does anyone know which ones he is using???? Look up flyinglizard, he has Megan springs. However, it seems that the stiffer the spring, the less the spring will actually compress...what I'm saying is, Megan springs are so stiff that they don't really lower all that much. He also says the ride is terrible.
RocketScott, what makes you want to get the Pro Kit springs? -------------------- '97 ST \ Eibach \ KYB \ Kenwood \ Alpine \ Cusco \ OEM+ [sold 10/18]

He also says the ride is terrible. RocketScott, what makes you want to get the Pro Kit springs? I'm just nervous I guess. The ride feels better than it did but it's hard to compare since all my struts were blown and strut mounts shot. It had so many rattles too. With my car being a '94 the sound deadening isn't as good as the newer cars so I hear it if anything is out. I really like the look though. I think it looks way better than it did since I put the 17s on. It doesn't look too low. They were able to get the camber within spec on the back without the camber kit but I still think it leans a little too much. I'll probably let the springs settle in and take it back in a few months to have it aligned again. I'll just put the camber kit in myself before I take it in. They want too much to do it for me. We've got two threads going on this topic right now. I had been meaning to add everything up that I bought and do a write up. I bought all new mounts and insulators. The only thing I reused from the originals was the top cap on the front springs. With all that extra stuff I spent $750. I could have just spent an extra $100 and got the Megan's. I started buying stuff before I realised how much it was all going to add up to. The struts themselves were only around $45 each but by the time I got mounts, boots/bumpstops, insulators, and springs the cost shot up quickly. I'll know next time. |

NICE! Looks like it should settle a bit more, but that looks great. How's the handling difference?
And the camber on both wheels looks fine. I'm not sure if you could tell, but the rear wheel (on mine at least) tilts just a small, small bit, and I'm at stock height with the same wheels. I assume those are the stock Scion center caps? I'm still trying to find some decent Toyota center caps. Looks great though, now I'm just that more anxious to get mine on. I think my bump stops and everything else are still fine, I guess I'll see. loved them and looked great when living in the 'burbs with smooth roads; uncomfortable living in the city and doing lots of driving in alleys/brick roads/anything but newly paved highway

The handling is great. It feels so much tighter, but like I said before all my struts were gone. I've got over 200k and I think they might have been the original struts. Adding new sway bars would make it even more responsive, that will be next on the list. I need a new half shaft and/or wheel bearing on the passenger side first though. Now that I don't have all the rattles from the suspension I'm hearing some of the other things I need fixing. The ride height really isn't much lower than what the car was originally. Putting the scion rims on raised the car up a lot. I haven't scrapped anything yet and I've gone over some good size speed bumps. The tire shop said the camber was within spec. I'm at -1.2 on the left and -1.7 on the right. They say that the range is -0.4 to -1.9. Those caps have the toyota logo on them. The guy I bought them from worked at a Toyota dalership. I think he said they came off an Avalone but I think the Camry and some other cars used the same caps. Search on eBay. Just measure to make sure you get the right diameter. |

Looks great Scott!
Ride height might be similar to OEM, but the wheel gap is definitely better than before. -------------------- |

looks good bro, but u need some rear spacers to perfect the look, for some reason most rims on our cars look tucked, but anyways how difficult were they to put on the car?

I was going to get spacers but I'd rather just save up and get a lighter set of 17" rims with the right backspace. I agree that they look too tucked in.
It wasn't very hard to swap these at all... but I have a full shop to work in. The three foot cheater bar was a must for getting the rear struts free. Don't expect to take the thing apart with a basic ratchet set. I also replaced all four mounts and the spring insulators. I had the rear struts put together before the car got into the shop. All I needed to do was swap out the entire assembly. I'm glad I did that because one of them is so rusted up that I can't get the top nut off. The fronts I had to take apart to reuse the cap that's on top of the spring. Got a spring compresser from harbor freight for cheap. Not much to it really. |
