I'll post up pictures if i pick it up this weekend. He said he got the wiring converted to his car so i figure i'd still need to get that sent out to get fixed This post has been edited by Stambo: Jan 17, 2010 - 11:56 PM -------------------- 2nd Gen 3s-gte.... It lives!

I just got it today i'm sooo happy from just looking at it. It has the gt tranny from the 5gen is this gt tranny a e153 correct? Once i get some more time i'm gonna take a look through it and start making a list of what i need electrical wise. So i guess this will be part of my build thread. -------------------- 2nd Gen 3s-gte.... It lives!

5th gen Gt trans is sn S53, which is just horrible in my opinion lol Close, the GT trans is a C52, the GT-S trans is an S53. The easiest way to differentiate between the two, think of it this way, C-commuter. S-sport. The C52 has longer gears for better highway MPG. The S53 has tighther clearances inside, and shorter "sportier" gearing. The S53 also takes ATF rather than regular gear oil like the C52. -------------------- www.tweakdperformance.com contact@tweakdperformance.com |

I don't want to thread-jack, but this is interesting...so the 6th gen ST has the C52, so that means the GT trans from the 5th gen got carried over to the ST of this gen? And then the GT's S54 trans is an evolution of the GT-S S53...I assume.

I have a 5th gen that I'm doing a 3s swap on, also going from auto to manual, I only researched the manuals that came in the 5th gens, regardless if they were in any other gens. -------------------- www.tweakdperformance.com contact@tweakdperformance.com |

Cam you think that 5th gen tranny would hold for stock boost for now? If so i was just going to use it till i get all the bugs out with the swap so it runs good before i start thinking about up'in the horse power.
Tomorrow morning i'm going to work to ohm out the sensors that i can to see whats good and bad. I also found a fuel pump relay on ebay i'm keeping my eye on. -------------------- 2nd Gen 3s-gte.... It lives!

I've seen some 5th gen celicas running with a 2nd gen 3s and s53 tranny it'll work but probably won't last long depends on how you drive too. -------------------- "To Protect And To Serve The Wealthy" -POLICE

All 5sfe "gt" 5th gens have an S53. Assuming its in good shape, it should work just fine. The 5th gen guys have been using them for years in their swaps. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

nice dude...i remember you posting in my thread on how you wanted to swap...your gonna have a blast with it....but it IS a lot of work.
My only advice to ya would be to take your time, dont rush it, and do it right because it will be well worth it. When your drilling the hole through the frame for the pass. side motor mount, i would suggest using thick thread rod, washers, and lock-tight nuts. That seems to be the best way to do it. I'll be following your thread man, and any questions you have feel free to ask, should be another nice build thread -------------------- I"M NOT A TOYOTA FAN, IM A FANATIC 1984 accord hatch 5 speed (T-Belt)-Junkyard 1991 VDUB jetta wolfsburg Ed. 5 speed (clutch)-junkyard 1988 Dodge Aries K (sold) 1969 Chevy El camino - Traded for celica 1991 Dodge Daytona-Traded for Celica 1988 Chevy Camaro-Work in Progress 1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 - For Sale 1995 Toyota Celica-Work in Progress |

I didn't take any pictures today but i took the intake manifold off, valve cover, turbo, manifold and cat off. Part washed the valve cover and intake off good. I'll take some pictures when i get to work monday. I was seeing how the shalf play was, the end play there isn't much what so ever but moving the impeller left to right there is some. I'm gonna bring it to school tuesday and check the play in the shaft to see if its in tolerance.
