Yeah, dont do it.
<or> You can custom mount an antenna on the roof like a VW. This post has been edited by Supersprynt: Dec 24, 2003 - 2:10 PM -------------------- |

If you do it right you can have it shaved and still have reception. You basically move your antenna somewhere that it will be out of site and bondo and paint the hole where it was. Reception wont be as good but youll have some anyway. If I were you id just go w/ the s2000 antenna. Its small so it isnt as noticable and it looks good w/out taking away from reception. Not to mention it keeps you from having to buy paint and bondo.

I had mine shaved as soon as i got the car.
I didn't get any reception but local stations. As soon as i can im gonna get a FUBA antenna. Like on the VW's. I was even thinking about installing it in front of the moonroof, like on the Cougars. -------------------- Jared Harwell

dude if youre gonna do it, really think about it. cuz it is one of those things that only you as the owner will notice. i just had all that work done and i didnt shave mine. ill prolly do an s2000 at some point. its one of those things that you will need to point out to people to notice. not really worth the crappy reception or spendin a lot on a window antenna. just IMO.

Actually, I believe I saw in one of the posts sometime that we do have a second antenna. If you have the stock radio, you should be fine...because the second antenna plug is in there. I think it's the kind that is invisible on the back window. If you have an aftermarket stereo, you can find the spare antenna cable behind your stereo...cuz it shouldn't be in use as the plug is a Toyota type plug. You will have to cut this plug off and install a normal universal antenna jack so it will go into your aftermarket stereo.
WARNING: This may or may not work, but I'm about 80% sure it will if I'm right about that second jack being a second antenna. -------------------- 95 Toyota Celica GT

I got tired of my antenna going up for CD, but still wanted to have it incase I ever sold the car. I just put a switch in for the power antenna so it only goes up when I want it to. It works great, but if you're shaving it for looks, that something totally different.
