I looked up the stats for an NA celi:
Toyota 1.8 ST 114BHP Top Speed of 124 0-60 in 10
Toyota 2.0 GT 173BHP Top Speed of 139 0-60 in 7.9

Not to say that these couldnt be surpassed going downhill or w/ small performance mods, but unless you have turbo i doubt youre gonna be goin much faster than this.

you got the stats for the wrong GT

the usdm gt's only have 135hp and a 2.2l engine

Man, you don't have enough horsepower to go that fast...sorry!

If you want I can do it again and have it taped(may have more trouble now because of the extra 100k on the engine).

And as for where, it was on I-70 between St Louis and Kansas City.

no way in hell can an ST dream to see 130. 120 is kinda pushing it for ST's.

back in the old days with my GT i did 123mph.

i tried not to long ago and did 143mph with a pasenger and a few hundred rpm left. the car was still accelarting but i didnt have the guts.

I really believe that an ST doesn't have enough engine to push those 2,500+ pounds all the way up to 120 mph...it may get there but it's after minutes. My ST climbed to 80 in a heartbeat and from there took an eternity to get to 90 and to 100 it was painfully slow...took probably more than a minute. After turbocharging it, at only 3 PSI with a blown turbo the car rocketed to 120 so fast I got nervous, haha...and it also torque steered to the left. tongue.gif

Don't know where you're getting the 2500 pound figure. It's more like 2300. But either way, even my old 85 GTS could get up over 100 like it was nothing(22RE put out the same 115 hp as the 7AFE, with a tad more torque, and to the rear wheels). Sure it's forever compared to something like an RX-7 or Supra, but it will get there.
We've had this discussion on this board as well as on Celica.net many times. The ST gears(manual trans) top out at 138. So believe what you want, but I've been there and know better.

Last time I checked on the web, I think it was a car reviews website, the ST weighed 6,4xx pounds...maybe some more for the automatic. I've never weighed it but from my understanding, my car is now heavier with the turbo stuff...not by much, but heavier. Also, I have 17" wheels...they're less than 18 pounds each but obviously we gotta count the tire weight...hmm..are the stock plain black wheels heavier or lighter thank the Enkeis? That's where I got the 2,500+...just a raw guesstimate. Hell, if I'm lighter than 2,500 that's awesome...more power to weight ratio than a Spec V or a Lancer Ralliart...both heavier than 2,600 pounds STOCK biggrin.gif

Can we bypass the limiter also? I thought you could only mess with the manual tranny STs. I need to know how because I'll need to do a max speed run so I can street set the S-AFC before going to the dyno wink.gif

im gonna put the wire on a switch and see what happens when the wire is "cut" with an auto tranny.

i should do that in the next few days.

that was me, lol.

toyota auto trannies are all controlled by the ecu based on speed and throttle position, and um, the ecu not knowing the speed might cause a problem.

im gonna be careful with it and see exactly what happens when i switch it off.

Speeds for my standard (apart from the Magic Tree!!) 94 UK GT.

3rd gear 100mph smile.gif
4th gear 120mph smile.gif
5th gear 145mph smile.gif

It's got 85k (ish) on the clock and runs like a dream.

If anybody would like proof of this let me know and I'll go up the road with the camcorder and get back to you.

To find out how fast your car goes, choose a nice quite road with good visibilty and stamp on the loud pedal, it's a Celica, the cunning Japs put a rev limiter to let you know when your going fast enough

My '95 ST tops out at 130mph (210km/h); but it really isnt comfy driving at that speed, engine is at 6300rpms then.
(tested it in Germany, no limits on highways there)

as for performance mod, the only thing changed is the cat has been taken out.

171 while using NOS in 7th gear!

I wouldnt recommend going over 110

How did you get around the limiter? Mine's a 94 GT and the limiter kicked in at 125. I was only at 5,500 RPM, but te fuel just cut at 125 pmh. How'd ya do it?

For all the weight related info, just look in the door. You will find curb weight, original tire size, transmission code, paint code... According to Henry's site(henryvo.com), the ST Liftback weighs 2415(man)/2495(auto). The ST Coupe is the lightest at 2395(man).
