buy a clip. just buying the motor, you're going to be missing a bunch of little things here and there which will take more time and money to locate ultimately leading to a big headache. buy a clip.

I have a 2nd gen 3sgte, rebuilt (pitsons, gaskets, seals, cam shaft bearings, etc) . I have pics upon request. Its JUST THE MOTOR (turbo, intake mani, exhaust mani incl.). NO HARNESS, this is why i never put it in. I actually just got lazy and got myself a 2004 nissan 350z. But like I said.... I have a motor, its for sale, but i wont let it go for peanuts on the dollar. It cost me $2000 (motor) + 1600 (rebuild parts)... so im willing to let it go, just not for $200. But like I said you wont know what you want untill you see the motor. PM me for pics |

Even if you find an inexpensive 2ndgen 3sgte (they are out there), you are nowhere near ready to put that baby in. Time to do some research man, you are a long ways off in terms of cost and parts. |

This is true... i have 3K.... a clip is like 5. I was looking so spend u know like 1200 or so on the engine. i have my tranny and its rebuilt and i also have a new clutch and such for the tranny i wanted a 2nd gen bc it isnt TOO much hp and im pretty sure a 2nd gen engine and its amount of hp will be fine in a 5sfe. So basically 1200 or so on engine and the rest on other things that may come up along the way. |

As a matter of fact jdm planet has an st185 front clip for $2750 shipped. Also if bing works with ebaymotors (it may not) you can get another 150-200 off your price This post has been edited by Mojo21: Mar 15, 2010 - 2:26 PM |

There is a good proverb out there. Existed for several thousand years, in many languages and it goes a little something like this:
Conservative person always pays twice. I am not going to suggest you to purchase a clip or the engine but I do have an advice for you. Multiply total cost by 2. That is how much it will end up costing you. Not many people chose to do engine swaps (for gt4 owners thats obviously not applicable) but those that do are divided into 3 categories. Ones that never finish their project, ones that finish their project, ones that finish their project and sell it. Most failed projects resulted from poor finance management or going over the top and blowing engine. Dont become a statistic. You live in the same state as MK7celica...why not buy his GEN2?
Depending on what IC setup you are looking to run and what options you are looking for, I can set you up with a complete GEN3 swap for a few extra bucks you would spend over the GEN2, and you wont need to have your harness sent out to reworked ($400+ for this service.) --------------------

PM'd lol... im just tired of stock. its just 120hp maybe if im lucky. my last car had over 450. BIG CHANGE lol. I was happy with just 250 when i started out with the last car. So thats all i want thats plenty of hp where i live..... i wanna beat the stupid ricers that have ugly cars who think there SOO fast when in reality there not. The celi has so much potential just parts are so much more expensive compared to my last car... i got a complete engine and tranny redtop SR20 for 1500 bux. So i just have to get used to buying more expensive things i guess lol
