Listen man, I'm having the same problem too with my GT-4 hood & I have a GT-4 bumper and have this problem. I did everything to try to make it work right but nothing. For some reason the left side of the hood lines up perfectly with the head light but is off on the right and sits above my fender when fully closed and latched. Now I tried everything, Loosening the bolts that keep the hood tight on the hinges and then tried to line the hood up so there is the same amount of gap between the hood and the fender but after I tighten the hood it was still off. I even tried as just using 2 bolts (1 on each side to get the hood straight which worked a little bit but the hood still to this day is still not 100%. I don't know if the hinges are causing this. If the hinges are off. The hood is more closer to the driver side fender than the passenger side. The hood just barely misses the fender when I close it or open it.

New problem
I'm the biggest idiot ever. Apparently I didn't hook up the good opening mechanism correctly and I shut the hood. I can't get it open. Wat do? -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(

Well don't you have room to stick your fingers in the gap to release it?
------------- Oh you mean the tension cable came out and can't release the hood from the main latch? This post has been edited by Tech-Nics: Mar 22, 2010 - 4:39 PM |

Yeah, the tension cable isn't hooked up right. The hood is locked and the hood release does nothing. -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(

Nevermind, fixed it.
I took off the scraper guard thing and reached up my hand and pulled the lever to pop the hood. Turns out I got a RHD GT4 latch >_> So I guess I'm stuck using the stock hood latch for now. Gonna go finish up my GT4 conversion, later fellas -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(

Slightly off topic, but what's the difference between an LHD and an RHD GT-Four latch?
Why would it matter? -------------------- |

Slightly off topic, but what's the difference between an LHD and an RHD GT-Four latch? Why would it matter? The hood release on LHD is on the LHD side of the car, and the RHD is on the RHD. The LHD pulls from the left, RHD pulls from the right. I have mine ghetto rigged right now. There's a string hanging from my bumper that pulls from the right hand side of the car when I pull it. I'm using it until I can find a LHD one because I don't want the hood to pop up in my face -------------------- 1996 Toyota Celica GT (GT4 conversion) - SOLD :(
