E Brake Problem Please HELP!! Options

Hello every im having a really annoying issue with my ebrake. About two months ago my friend did a drum to disk conversion. after the conversation he attempted to tighten the ebrake with very little success. He took off the exhaust off and everything so he doesnt know what to do at this point. This ebrake is way to loose and it needs to be tight. What should we do? How could we get this ebrake tight?

Should be a nut that you can adjust underneath your center console attached to the E-brake handle it self.

also the drumbrakes under your disk will have adjustment there too.

the rotor/drum has a little rubber cover on it. point that cover directly towards the ground. Inside is the adjustment screw, take a flat screwdriver and feel around for it, adjust it one way and keep turning the rotor until it begins to resist. If after turning a while and the rotor is still loose, then adjust the screw the other way.

The way I adjust it is I turn the adjustment screw until I cannot move the rotor by hand, then i remove about 1-3 clicks.

Samir's description entails adjusting the position of the pads, which you have to do on both wheels.

Soulshadow's description is specific to the position of the e-brake handle and the amount of slack in the cables. However, it's actually a two-nut system. One nut adjusts the amount of slack in the cables, the other nut locks the adjuster nut into place. Full tension should be achieved within seven clicks.

Both steps need to be done to properly set the e-brakes.

ummm im not too sure on the ST drum brakes... it uses the same shoes for ebrake? In that case, just try adjusting it like i mentioned above, or adjust the handle.

My ebrakes can lock up the rear wheels if necessary with little effort.

well like if im going down the road and i pull it its like me barely pushing the brake. i get a better rresult from pushing the brake

I have drums on mine and actually it's not that great. I have about 5 clicks on my e brake handle and when I pull it hard id doesn't do much if the car is moving. If the car is completely still, then it's good. I can safely park on an incline with out any worries.

yea i usually pull it at a stop light when im bored, but if i really needed to stop in a hurry id be dead with that.

oh. i think you are a bit confused then. The handbrake is not for stopping in emergency situations like needing to stop to avoid a collision. the handbrake should be used for parking mainly, and besides that it should only be used in the event your foot brake is not working. The handbrake provides significantly less force than the foot brake and cant stop the car in anywhere near the amount of time the foot brake can.

well i know people with hand brakes and theres are like 100% better than mine.
