I know that the s54 is strong. Mine has proven itself up until the input shaft of the cv shaft snapped inside the diff, causing me to lose reverse. When that happened I struck a deal on an e153 lsd trans.

Lucky, the power steering pump on the 3rd gen is easy to work with. So are you going to be using an e153 transmission or stick with the tired s54? I'm surprised that transmission has held up through all those years of your beating lol!! I'll be using the same s54. I can't afford to do the e153 swap right now. No big plans for the motor, I'm just gonna add a helper spring for the wastegate, make a nice 3" intake, use the water injection off the 5sfte setup, the same MBC and exhaust with a new front peice, although I may add a resonator to quiet it down a little around town. I'd like to install cam gears... I'm trying to trade some bodywork labor for them with a fellow member... (we love u Steff!!) that's about it other than cleaning things up and tidying up the engine bay. This weekend we are working on dissasembling the clip, I cut the spot welds and removed the radiator support Thursday, today I'm gonna take the dash, ect off and start cutting the clip up down to the firewall. Pics tonight! -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

There was so much JDM trapped inside that box that they couldn't contain it, so they had to put a JDM hole in the box to let the JDM out. Soooo RHD conversion?? DEFINETLY NOT. all those parts are for sale, like SUPER cheap. i just want someone to come get them out of my garage. lol got most of the frame rails cut off last night, and all the dash parts off and basicly got it down to the bare firewall. didnt take pics while we were doing it, ill go out in a bit and get some pics of the carnage. lol when we got the clip, the intercooler and stuff on top of the motor seemed to have this weird "film" on it, almost textured, that seemed to trap most of the dust and dirt that is visable on the motor. i took a little lacquer thinner to a corner of the IC, and it started comming off, it almost seems like the previous owner may have attempted to spray some kind of clear coat over things, but very poorly. once i started wiping it off, the intercooler REALLY started to come back to life. a quick pic i snapped last night of the results ( you can see the film on the entry neck of the IC still): yummy! for you guys that may see this, and are looking for RHD parts, be on the lookout for a for sale thread soon, i have the FULL dash minus the CC unit, and full front SS suspension and steering rack, excluding brakes and of course all the RHD firewall stuff. cameron, start your own thread for your questions about your swap. but since the thread jack is already on: the S54 will be just fine, provided its in good shape when you start, and your not bangin gears like your a race car driver, and launching it at every stop light like your racing NHRA. my tranny has been taking a beating at close to and over 300hp for just about 5 years now, and art (lagos) has been on his stock tranny for longer than that. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

IMO a 3rd gen is an easier swap, cause there is less wiring. the basic mechanical parts of the swap are the same as any other swap. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)

so heres some pics of the progress since the last post.
after removing the dash and whatnot: after cutting back the frame rails: after cutting out the firewall (no, i didnt drill out the welds, leave that for the guy who buys it! lol) floor and door pillars: cut in half for easy transportation: now i gotta get rid of all the scrap, clean up the garage, and start prepping the motor! last night i spent ~1hr in the garage, things are still a mess, but we should be taking all the junk metal over to the scrappers today, so that will free up some space and allow me to actually start working on the motor.
i spent a little time cleaning up the blitz BOV that came on the clip, its not 100% done, and i am not planning on using it on this swap, but i wanted to see if it would shine back up, so that if i end up selling it, it looks good for the next guy who owns it. its the blitz super sound, after googling for some vids of it, i actually like how it sounds. before: after: also, steff ordered the cam gears for me, ((WOOOT thank you steff, i appreciate your help!!)) so they should arrive soon, and she also got the t-belt for me, so once the gears arrive, ill have some good pics ect of the timing belt side of the motor while i am doing my thing. -------------------- Former Team 5SFTE pro member ;)
