If you looked down a little in this section there's my 7AFTE Tech/Project thread that may help you out a lot.
My parts list is pretty expensive but it will give you an idea of what is needed. I'm not really just saying this because its my thread or anything but there really is a lot of info about what I bought, what I would have changed about my parts list, where I got everything and the prices, problems I had and peoples suggestions on how to fix it along with what I found was the best solution, dyno results on pg 16, the beginning has info on compressor flow maps and turbo size choice. OK---This is my final parts list As an update, these were the things I ended up not using or would change about my parts list: - all of the oil filter relocation stuff--I did not relocate my oil filter, I did use of the 90 degree swivel fittings for my oil return line - the boost controller--since I need to turn down the boost instead, and on an internally wastegated turbo you can adjust the actuator rod to control boost - the 315cc injectors are too small and will be sold once I install the RC Engineering 370cc injectors - the BOV recirculation adapter--my BOV is not recirculated at the moment, I'm keeping it in case I decide to later - the intercooler piping--the 4"x12" 90 degree bends are tighter than the 12"x12", I should have gotten all 3 of the tighter 90's - and I forgot about the actual intake piping which I need 2 more tight 90 degree bends, we just sourced them from the garage - the exhaust piping--I needed one more j-bend, didn't need the whole j-bend but still should have gotten one more to begin with - 10 feet of 3/4" ID heater hose from Home Depot for the intercooler water lines, it's not on the list cause I knew I could just get it locally when the time came I did add a Tial 38mm MV-S External Wastegate and recirculation piping to that list afterward. I got rid of the Apexi AFC Neo since that was not adequate, and I did not get the eManage. I bought the AEM F/IC for fuel control. Oh I know. Most people that want to turbo their ST don't really have the money to do it right so it never lasts long and they almost always have a for sale for all their parts a few months later. I knew what I was getting into when I decided to do it and wanted other people to know too.
My parts list includes my engine rebuild parts and my custom reground cams too though, that was all part of my particular project. I know its still a lot of money though, but I tried to buy all the best things I could. I'm sure you could get a lot of things used or cheaper. -------------------- |

it seems like a high demand for 7A turbo kits right now. maybe ill build one and use erynns car as the template.... -------------------- 2001 Celica GT-S Turbo

Please do. Or at least, it would be an awesome service to the community if you could provide a template of sorts. Giving a few options for turbos is probably asking too much since there are so many, but if a list of BOVs, proper injectors, exhaust manifolds, boost controllers, fuel controllers, oil relocation kits etc. could be made, it would be very helpful. The prospect of a 7A-FTE still seems very enticing to me, and I'd love to see a list of necessary parts compiled that comes in under the price of a 3S. Its ok, I would not have bought any used parts or anything other than the things I picked out myself and bought anyway. For me, most of the fun in this project was learning what I needed and why, finding everything, then being able to put it all together and make it work, then learning what I did wrong and fixing it. cheap. reliable. fast. pick two.
