Does anyone know if the bolt pattern on the Blacktop beams runs the same as the 3rd gen 3sgte's?

good question. sadly I doubt it since the beams was a new cast, so may have different bolt pattern
cant seem to find a ST205 head intake side. -------------------- |

I can confirm it does not, the 3s-gte has very different port spacing and shape, aswell as a different bolt pattern

Thank you for your reply edophus. But does the redtop have the same botl pattern/spaceing. Btw, im talking about the bolt patterns on the exhaust manifold side. Forgot to mention that earlier

Forgot to mention that earlier blacktop and redtop beams both have the same bolt pattern, there essentially the same head with slightly different machining work for the cams and water outlets. they are however completely different to all other 3s heads. |

When you say that they are different from all other 3s's, does that include the 4th gen 3sgte's from the caldina's.

the 4gen GTE head is swappable I think, the 4gen GE is a totally different cast to all 3s-ge/gte(1 2 3 Gens & 4 gen 3sgte). I'm guessing here you want to run a FMIC, but you dont want to run the piping over the head? TRDGT4 & Anth-205 are running a 4gen 3sgte intake manifolds.

Actually my original plan included purchasing a blacktop beams out of a caldina to use as a spare engine. It already has an intake manifold similar to other caldina's, but i was really hoping that the exhaust would match that of my 3rd 3sgte. Since you have proves/said it dosent, i took your word, and instead looked towards the 4th gen 3sgte's, hoping that atleast the exhaust manifolds woudl match. I dont see why not, but thats what i was getting at in asking so many "seemingly" redundant questions...
I wish i could take pictures but im out of country now, and wont be able to post up any pics of what i mean until the 2nd. Also, the car that the BEAMS is sitting in is sitting high on top of a van in ajunk yard. Makes it hard to get a decent look at anything.... Also, i dont think its possible now, but i wanted to continue running the TMIC from my third gen. Also from what ive seen the redtops seem to have some sort of spacer/adapter on the intake manifold. Never got a chance to take a real good look at it, but for anyone that has, is it really just a spacer or an adapter of some sort? -------------------- (\__/)

Never got a chance to take a real good look at it, but for anyone that has, is it really just a spacer or an adapter of some sort? ah i see what your talking about is maybe actually what is more commonly called a greytop, thats a redtop beams with a black/grey cover, the blacktop is the 3s-ge that comes in altezza rs200, either way makes no difference, all beams heads are the same in terms of inlet/exhaust manifold port spacing and bolt patterns. 4th gen and 3rd gen 3s-gte's both share the same inlet/exhaust manifold patterns so yeah you could use manifolds from that on a 3rd gen 3s engine. The spacer/adapter on the beams head is interesting cause i did look at this and compare it to a 3rd gen 3s-ge because it is similar at one point, i have photo's of this on and off the engine as i have a spare head, i can look these out for you it might be possible to bolt up the beams inlet manifold with little hassle. acutally the picture rusty posted above is my spare head, thats the intake side without the adapter on it! I think the stud pattern is a little different to the 3rd gen engine but, the adapter on the beams, is at one point very similar to the 3rd gen head patter, its where the rubber spacer sits between the adapter and the inlet manifold, that part looks to be about the same, so in theory, by taking the beas inlet manifold, and the rubber spacer, that part might match the 3rd gen head, but who knows you'd need to have a play around! Thank you, i guess you see exactly why i am asking so many questions. Only problem, is that even though i have access to all 4 engines, buying all four at once, before they hit the compactor would be too expensive. Maybe i mightbe able to aquire the "greytop" and the 4th gen engine and compare myself...
