As i was building my water cooled computer, it just dawned on me that no one has ever tried a water cooled exhaust manifold. I think this would drop the engine bay temp by a bunch numbers. And for those that use fiberglass wraps, this will the end of that. smile.gif

I was thinking maybe welding small bases on each exhaust manifold pipe and have liquid running to the radiator much like a computer cooler. I would love to see this for our 5sfe and 3sgte if its already out there!!

oil would be better. either way you would need a superior radiator. if the housing cracks, you would be risking an explosion of your diy box.. coolant expands and vaporizes at extreme rate!when pushing the turbo hard, the header/turbo would raise high above 100C and would smoke the coolant into gas instantly..
+1 for idea
-1 for trying to acoomplish that smile.gif

Isnt the idea with exhaust for it to be at a high temp because then the liquid flow rate out of the exhaust system is higher, giving a lower backpressure and cleaner exit from the system?

The rest of the other parts are typical gamer's specs.

you want to keep heat IN the exhaust manifold.
heat and the rapid expansion of gasses is what spools the turbo.
the "fiberglass wrap" is actually used to keep heat in the exhaust manifold, not help cool it.
ceramic coating does the same thing. keeps heat in the exhaust manifold, which in turn lowers engine bay temps.

Grimmspeed will ceramic coat anything, and I believe turbo manifolds that they coated showed temps somewhere around 60 degrees. They said they were able to get out after hard driving and grab the manifold with their bare hands.
