New to me 1996 Celica convertible. Battery went dead, and now the alarm goes off every time I open the doors. Any ideas? I have never had an alarm on a car. There is no obvious shut off on the key.

if you don't have an alarm for the car then the best thing to do now is to locate the kill switch in your car. it is mostly located near where the clutch is at right in the left corner. there should be a small button you can find it by using your fingers to locate it. then turn ur key not all the way and press he button. mess wid it. see if it works.

I found a tiny toggle on the plastic panel next to the clutch. I will try this after the rest of the family wakes up. Thanks

Update. Yes, that certainly worked! Since we don't even lock our doors here in Dolores Colorado I don't know much about alarms. Thanks!
